I love the animal crossing series!

Now, animal crossing HAS been a bigggg part of my childhood as I've owned the game before (even on other platforms) but let me tell you it's one of if not the best life simulator game out there its so easy to understand even my mom loves the game and we take turns playing; however, my mom ISN'T even a gamer but if she can play the game and love it you can give it a try too you won't be disappointed with how charming and funny the game is. The sole reason it even costs so much is because it's becoming a VERY sought after game still don't let that deter you from picking up any animal crossing game just cuz you can't get the first one cheap.Read full review...

Great gameplay

Got a better copy of this game today. Very continuous gameplay, can be played over and over again. Great for kids and adults. Laid back, but fun.

Gameplay - in a nut shell...

Animal Crossing is an open-ended game, where a player can live a separate life with little preset plot or mandatory tasks. Players assume the role of a new resident to the town. The gender and looks of your character depends on the answers given to a cat named Rover on the train. There are also certain tasks that players can choose to complete, and goals they can choose to achieve. The game is played out in real-time—observing days, weeks, months, and years using the GameCube's internal clock. There are many actual events and holidays spanning the year, including Independence Day, Halloween, the Harvest Festival (Thanksgiving), and Toy Day (Christmas) among others. Other regular activities such as early morning fitness classes and fishing tournaments are included in the game as well. When players are done playing, they can go talk to their gyroid (a creature next to their house) and save. If a player turns off the game or resets the GameCube without saving first, the next time they play the game, a mole called Resetti will appear in front of the player's house to scold them for quitting without saving first. Resetti's brother Don occasionally appears in his place, apologizing for his brother's rudeness.Read full review...

Nostalgia!

Disc came in great condition. This is so weird coming back to the original when I have been playing the Switch version since April. However, the gamecube holds some of the things I love, such as the police station and Tortimer, even the post office system, that I found endearing and yet the newer versions of the game have mostly failed to incorporate. I love interacting with my villagers, and I love typing in random cheat codes at Nook’s Cranny. Honestly, this game is a good investment. I was sad I lost my copy and glad I was able to replace it. Addictive but needy

Animal Crossing is a game that defies age and gender demographics. I have seen my grandmother, my teenage brother, and my little sister waste days on it. The concept is simple- live in a (REAL TIME) town populated by animals and try to be a good neighbor while collecting house decorations and hundreds of other items. In practice, though, the game will suck your life away in the best way possible. You'll find yourself trying to leave school or work early just so you can catch a specific in-game event.

Most of the animals' schedules don't sync up with the average college student's nocturnal lifestyle, so I found myself resetting the game's clock to match my sleeping schedule. Don't do this. Ever. It's really easy but you'll find the temptation is too great. Trust me on this.

In sum, this is a great E-rated game with great open-ended content, but it just might be too addictive. Think of it as the strange love-child of World of Warcraft and Mr. Rogers.

Animal Crossing original game is Awesome!

We had this game when our kids were young and the wife wanted to re-live those times since they moved out, so I bought her this game and a GameCube for Christmas (one of our sons took the GameCube and game when he moved out to Australia....of all things to take!!!),

She LOVES this game and even had the memory card from 2001 for this game and was able to continue her adventures and start a new town. I even started playing this game too, and during these stay at home mandates, it is very enjoyable and entertaining (and addictive).

Glad I found this on ebay.

A Great Escape

With all the terrible news in the world, it great to have a fun, peaceful place to escape to for a while. I recently bought a used Wii and some games that I remembered my son playing when he was little. We have enjoyed this "oldie but goodie" (we have the Wii that will play Gamecube games) and have been playing it every night. I do have a much larger TV than we did back when the game was first released, so the graphics are a little fuzzy on the big screen since the game is not in HD, but that's only when one character takes up the whole screen. During play, the graphics are fine.

Sit back, do some fishing, catch some bugs, and then sell your goods at Nick's store so you can buy his wares needed to build your dream home while making some friends in the neighborhood. You can even challenge each other to see who donates the most finds to the museum, and who remodels their home faster. The more you do, the faster you can add on to your house, and afford all the fun things Nick offers in his store. Great game for all ages.

We completely understand why this is a classic!

A very good RPG, fun for all!

A very good RPG, fun for all!

-Postal Feature

-Clothing

-The Summary
-This is probably the second best Gamecube RPG I’ve ever played. You start by answering some questions on a train that will determine the name of yourself, your town and your appearance. After that you buy a house, and get a part-time job. After you’re done with your job, it’s all up to you. You can talk to townsfolk, fish, or just explore. A very special feature about Animal Crossing is that it is literally real time! You set a clock on the train, and that’s what time it is in your game (you also set the Month, Year and Day)!

Stress Free Game

I bought this game for my wife. She doesn't like to play many games, but this is one she enjoys playing. There are tons of things you can do from, odd jobs for the little characters, catching insects, fishing, and much much more. Your main goal is to pay off the debt you owe Tom Nook for the loan to purchase your new home, and subsequent loans for upgrades to your home, but there is no pressure or timeline to pay back the debt. Allowing you to play the game at your own pace. The game plays in real time going off the eternal clock in the GameCube. It is a cool Idea and works well with this game, but it doesn't come without its hiccups. If you play late at night the store is closed leaving you with less to do. Not too mention that you might would have to wait an entire year to do something. You can always change the clock in the game moving it forward or backward, but that kind of kills the novelty of the game. The graphics in the game are dated now, and never were great. They are very cartoonish, but the play out well for this type of game.

Personally I don't enjoy the game, but I'm more into shooting games and sports games. I understand that it does have good appeal to many people out there who aren't into the typical game. I would personally rather be shooting something rather than collecting bugs; however, if you dont enjoy the high intensity high stress of those types of games Animal Crossing might be for you.

Animal Crossing GCN

While dated (almost 20 years old at this point), Animal Crossing is peak comfy early 2000's life sim gaming. There's other AC games out there, with many many more features, but there's so much in this small package that makes it unique and worth picking up.Read full review...

Interesting orgins..

Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the game at first, after playing it, I now start to understand what makes animal crossing interesting. The " fun" of the game is to make your own fun by setting your own goals and objectives, as well as living your virtual town life! A bit clunky by today's standards but I can't believe I didn't play this earlier! At 70$, its a bit expensive for a 20 year old game though..Read full review...
