Entertaining and Pointless

As much as I love a good military movie, or a good boxing movie, or a good romance movie, the three just don't seem to go together in this look into the life of a pleb in the U.S. Naval Academy.
r>Don't get me wrong, I like the film. It was entertaining in its way. It's just that everything was so predictable. All the characters were cardboard cutouts, and plot developments were sent postage due.

The love story only sort of worked, the boxing match between Franco and Gibson was a ridiculous sham, and the basic training scenes were so sterotypical (you have the loner dark horse and the Navy poster boy who always finish first, you have the fat guy who can't make it up the climbing obstacle, you have the hilarious stock scene from all military movies where someone goes splat! in the mud... blah, blah, blah).

I guess you could save money by purchasing this film instead of Rocky, An Officer and a Gentleman, and Dirty Dancing, because it has pretty much the same effect as watching all three of those movies in succession.

It wasn't a waste of two hours, but again, I would have likely rented something else had I to do it all over again. The film had its moments, but it was just unfortunate that all those moments of which I speak had already been done in other films.

You probably have to be ex-Navy or a Jordana Brewster stalker to really get pumped for this feature.Read full review...

Great movie that shows how much dedication it takes to make it as an officers' candidate. Well acted and worth the time to watch. Military Movie with Life Struggles........

I read the description.I am not sorry I purchased it. It may have a familiar
storyline like other Military movies but it also had in it life's struggles,emotions, dealing with relationships and the willingness,positive efforts to persevere and stand up for oneself, to reach goals set. A couple of the actors were better than others but it is something we can identify with in real life and

it was an interesting story about a guy that just won't quit.
I'm not sure in the real academy this is how it is. It seems like it would have classroom and other teaching that wasn't depicted in this movie.Read full review...

Excellent Story line

Annapolis is one of the movies that is a great one to see with your son, Me and my son saw it togeather and it brings back the old Rockie days of determination that is awesome for a teenager to see! This is one you dont want to miss! I really enjoyed it, it was in-line with the Old Top-gun type as well, where no matter what anybody says to you if you believe you can do it!
