Good and Bad

A very nice looking product! Really well designed. The Leopard OS is a very nice Operating System, and there were other programs it came with. One program was Boot Camp to go to XP. The down side is this needs to be used as a Closed system only. The other down side is getting the correct DVI-A, DVI-I, and DVI-D adapter for the monitor. I ended up w 3, and I am using a DVI-D to the HDMI on the monitor, since the combination of Digital/Analog looks better in the DVI-I to DVD-D to HDMI, than either the DVI-A to VGA, or DVI-I to VGA. Confusing as Hxxx. I am going to update to Snow Leopard, although I also bought the OS Disc to go in VirtualBox inside of my Linux Host. These OS’s have now been cutoff from the Internet, and w only 1.25 GB RAM w maximum of 2 GB possible going through torture to put it in, I remain w this computer running like this, and will eliminate all the many Browsers I have tried. Nice, smart, simple, mini package that makes you smile.

It does all I want and then some. I needed a mac so I could access files, music, pictures that I have on an external drive I haven't had access to since my IBook died awhile back. For all that this little Mini does I find this to be like the deal of the century for me. Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet, Office, a cool keyboard, 6 USB ports including 2 on the keyboard, enough ram to do a few things at once, all in a tiny box. The fan makes plenty of sound but i drown it out listening to iTunes through a premium sound system. So far it seems to stream movies and music with no hesitation unlike my newer Lenovo laptop. Safari was not the best browser for some of the sites I visit so I downloaded FireFox and that did the trick. The only other issue I have had is trying to set the correct resolution on 2 of the monitors I have. Its at a lower resolution than ideal but it still is a very good picture. Probably a compatibility issue. You can not lose having one of these as a first Mac for a novice user or a second or third computer for a windows user considering its size and performance not to mention its an extreme value priced in the low 100 dollar range. Your lucky to get a crappy phone for that price...Read full review...

Great Hardware and Price

I bought an Apple mac mini 2006, with a HDD caddy, Apple bluetooth keyboard, and Apple magic mouse; for $100. It was a terrific price for great hardware.

However when it comes to the software it was more mixed. For me it was fine but less tech savvy people would be confused. He had installed OS X Mountain Lion, though OS X Snow Leopard is the last officially supported OS. This is completely fine, but it did not mention it in the product description, and I really would have liked to know. Also he had on verbose boot up (it boots up through the command prompt) and although I knew what it was many people would have thought the computer was in some way broken.

In summary, it was a terrific purchase but you just need to know what you are signing up for.

Mini Mac - a good system, under rated because of its name 'Mini'

I have had a Mini Mac in the past and could not get the family comfortable with it so I continue to support windows and its issues.. I work with Unix/Linux and windows and have a need to use the Iweb to produce faster web site changes.

They are a quiet easy to use for the most part, and seem to be moving toward better interaction with windows like it or not. The unit is quiet, compact and relatively affordable for a Apple item. There is limited screen resolution with this model supporting only 1900 x 1120 I believe which is adequate, but all the same a bit limiting.

For limited / focused business use and home use it is a good model, and I would recommend to anyone who needs flexibility at an affordable price.

Mac Mini (1.66, 2GB, 80GB, 10.6)

Hesitated a little when I heard about the crack, but after getting the unit, the crack is worth it. The USB port below it is fully functional. The 2gb RAM upgrade has allowed the unit to function very well. And OSX Snow Leopard is Great. Feels like I bought a brand new computer.

Thank you for the wonderful product, this is my first personal Mac!

The best of the low end Macintosh's

The Mac Mini was one of the best of the low end Macintosh's I needed to have an older Mac that I could run the older software on. My New one runs OSX10.12 and it no longer ran my older software and had to either buy new "updates" or just not use the software. So this one was just what I needed. I changed out the Ram to 2GB and added a new HD up from 60GB to 750GB so I have plenty of ram and HD space. The price was just right.Read full review...

Great value

I am very pleased with this purchase. I previously had a tower desk top computer and this mac mini, although a six year old model, surpasses my old desk top model. It came with numerous apps loaded on it. and I was able to set it up and start using it immediately. WHEN i need another computer, it will be a mac mini.. It is a wee box and you will need a screen monitor and a keyboard. I am pleased and happy with my new -to -me mini. It's great!Read full review...

Not really impressed

I am admittedly a PC guy and I need to be able to write apps for the iPhone/iPad so I got this little guy. I know there is a learning curve in changing systems, and putting that aside, I haven't seen anything that's really remarkable about OS X. It's a bit generic actually.

The box itself is a bit sluggish, but I realize I didn't buy it for horsepower, so it is acceptable. The mouse feels cheap and moves like it's got lead in it. The box is actually nice looking and the little remote is a nice touch, as I will probably use it as a hulu box after I'm done with the development.

Mac Mini for Parts

This item was purchased for parts needed to repair another Mac-Mini and it was exactly what I expected and what was described in listing making this purchase a good one. The Mac-mini is a great little computer wonder of Apple and has a long life if taken care of but unfortunately pricing in parts and repair are a bit too high and users like myself thank God there is another avenue to get these parts through Ebay. Excellent purchase and inexpensive fix for my Mac-Mini's repair (given you know somehting about electronics repairs).Read full review...
