Opens "Office" documents well. Easy to learn characteristics

Pages of Iworks opens "Word" documents as well as any other office product. What I did like was the color rendering of a picture I sent to my color laserjet was clearer and better color than I could get in Word.

Flow Text Easily

Most of my work tends to be page layout, as in newsletter. So I often copy text from a WP document and paste it into text frames. If I have frames on multiple pages I want the text to flow from one to the other, even on different pages. The newest version of Pages does not allow that. This version does. This version also, for me at least, allows much easier placement of pictures and graphics. Very intuitive. The newer version not so much. If you like MS Word, the newer version is probably for you. If you like Pagemaker, this older version is better. I bought this just for Pages; can't speak to any differences in Numbers or Keynote.Read full review...

iWork '09 to the rescue!

I recently bought a used macbook pro operating on high Sierra 10.13.6 and quickly realized I could no longer download new apps. This made it possible to easily get the iWork suite.

Well, I have El Capitan and it works, just isn't what I thought it would be. Microsoft Office word is much better than Pages. I can't download the new Pages because I can't upgrade to Sierra. Would probably be better for computers older than mine.Read full review...

iWork 09 "just" works.

I needed this version of iWork to bridge between earlier versions on a PowerPC machine and later version on an intel Mac and iPad. This item is doing the job. iWork is typical of most Apple software, intuitive to use. I agree with other users in having a preference for Appleworks and all of its features but with this product on my PPC I can convert files from Applworks to iWork.

Great for Older Macs

A great productivity suite for older Macs; since it doesn't require online activation it's not prone to the issues of online-DRM that are present with more recent versions of Microsoft Office.
