Inexpensive with good tone

The Arion Tubulator is basically a Tubescreamer-style pedal. It has the original TS-808 type chip in it, and it doesn't have as much of the bass cut. It's cased in plastic versus metal, but I think it sounds great. Best of the old school sound pedals.

Arion was a pedal maker 'Back In The Day' as it were. The interiors were equal to most everything made at the time (early 1980's) but the chasis were all plastic to save money. While Arion made an equal to most all pedals available, only two were really well received and purchased, the Stereo Chorus and this, The Tubulator. Akin to a 'Blues Driver' it really excels at it's job and a functional one is worth $50 to $70 dollars depending on condition. I've never heard the reconditioned versions of these but that's not this review either. I now own this and the Stereo Chorus (plus the original pedal/power supply board) and will be hanging on to them in the future. However I will be looking towards newer BOSS models to complete my 'Sound Collection'.Read full review...

Good pedal!

An overall good TS9 clone! Currently using with a Peavey Studio Pro 50 and it sounds good as a stand alone distortion pedal, or a little booster to the Studio's gain. I'll be modding it in the near future.Read full review...

great overdrive for the money

This overdrive is basically as good as a Ts9, maxon, or running a metalzone as an overdrive. Warm tubelike overdrive that sounds great for blues or metal. Sounds awesome with my tube head and 4x10 cab as well as my solid state practice amp. I would recommend this over a more expensive overdive pedal unless the plastic housing will be a problem.
