Great recorder/player but no auto stop

The RCA cassette recorder /player works well. I like that it has a counter to let you know where something important is recorded. The only reason I would not recommend it is due to it not having an auto stop feature. I realized after I got the recorder that the auto stop feature is important in some circumstances. It makes everything sound like the Chipmunks!

Tape speed is way too fast and cannot be fixed. The cassette player plays every tape way too fast. I am very good with mechanical equipment and I tried everything to get it to work correctly and I failed. The roller and capstan do pinch the tape correctly but the capstan turns way too fast so the tape travels past the tape head way too fast. The 'auto-off' mechanism works properly and everything else about the functionality of the device works correctly but the tape speed is 2, 3, or 4 times too fast. It is like you are playing recordings back at triple or quadruple speed or faster.
I purchased this for my Mother months ago and she did not open the sealed plastic package until recently and discovered it did not work correctly. It has been too long since I purchased the unit to send it back and I hate that. The packaging said it was manufactured in the early 2000's.Read full review...

Basic recorder

This is a basic tape recorder for making simple recordings. I bought this to help my students prepare for speech contests. Of course there are more high-tech ways to make recordings these days, but not all students (or teachers) have the equipment or knowledge to use digital recordings.

I like the mic most of all. You don't have to hold the whole recorder to your mouth to make the recording. Just sit at a table and direct the mic toward your mouth.

It's decades old, 40 plus years. I think thats the problem.

Well, I don't know if it's because of it's age but right now it's performing too too well. It's not recording and sometimes it cuts off while playing a tape. Its new but it's old i'll give it some and see if it will get better.Read full review...
