Austin Powers Pinball for PC.

As a teenager, many years ago, I dropped a lot of dimes and quarters in the real stand up, mechanical pinball machines. In the early 90's, when personal computers were making their appearance, there were a few simple pinball games written for the PC, but they were in at most, 16 colors and frankly, less than satisfying. The mid 90's brought along a few great (at the time) pinball games written for the current OS's. In keeping up with times and current OS's, proved to be fatal to some of the games as they will not function at all.
Austin Powers Pinball carries a 2002 copyright which means that it was meant to perform under Windows ME, and it has very minimal computer requirements. My current OS is XP Pro and it took a bit of manipulation in order to install it and have it run under XP. At first the install splash screen would not show up correctly and would lock up. I opened the CD and decided to operate the program under a different compatibility program, as found under properties when you right click on the executable file. (AustinPowers.exe) Once that was accomplished, the program installed. Next, the shortcut had to be changed to be compatible with Windows 2000. Finally, the game opened and was playable. Just be sure that any open programs are closed before running this game as it probably relies on that initial 640Kb of memory to run without any exception error codes. My computer currently has 8 Gigs of memory, so typically it should run anything I can throw at it without hesitation.
There are only 2 boards to play on this game CD, which represent the first two movies. The sound effects, music and voices are all there for you to enjoy. Any pinball fanatic will enjoy this game as there are very few new ones on the market to purchase and play.
I gave this pinball game a rating of only "Good" based on the required manipulation of the install and run tactics. Otherwise, it has playability and enough entertainment to be a keeper and played at length until your fingers get tired of pushing keys on the keyboard.
