Fun Game for the Whole Family!

My family and I love this game! This game has popular music tunes and I can set the difficulty settings so that even my 4-year-old can play the drums! My 10 year old absolutely loves this game and has played it every single day since we got it! The reason that I gave a "Good" and not an "Excellent" rating is that, at first, we couldn't get the microphone to work. But after reading some reviews on other sites, we learned that we needed to have a Wii remote for EACH part of this game. In other words, you need a remote for the guitar, a remote for the drums and a remote for the microphone. Also, another trick I found in the reviews is that the microphone needs to be the "P1" (Player 1) remote in order for it to work. That might not be the case for every Wii Console, but it is for me. These are really not any "complaints" though, as the game provides good family fun that we all enjoy. It would have been nice if the Band Hero directions mentioned the issues with the remotes in the troubleshooting section, though, as it took me 2 days to figure out the "P1" part! Overall, this game is great for getting together with friends and family and jamming out to your favorite tunes!Read full review...

Band Hero is a good Family bundle

For the Wii this is an excelent FAMILY game. There is a lot of good all around songs for everyone in the family to enjoy. Taylor Swift, Popa Roach,Jackson 5,Joan Jett, Poison, David Bowie, ETC. Full song list is at Bandhero.com. The guitar is the newest style(has a star power button on it), Also the drum kit is the newest style also(has port for Optional 2nd foot pedal, MIDI in/out). The drum kit stand is made of strong metal tubing, I was shocked that it wasnt cheap plastic. The mike is nice too but it only has a 10 foot or so cable(standard USB extension cable works fine).

The nice thing about Band hero VS guitar hero is that on beginner mode there are no colored notes to hit. on the guitar you hit the strum bar or frett buttons, The drums you hit any of the drums or cymbals. This is good when your 5 and 7 year olds wants to play too!! Also you get all the songs UNLOCKED when you play in party mode. In party mode the game is kinda like watching a MTV video. Then you can jump in and out of the songs if you want to. Up to 4 players can play(if you have more Optional mikes, Guitars). 3 can play out of the box with this band kit(singer, drummer, Guitar standard or bass).

You may want to buy another Wii remote or 2 as the guitar takes one and the drum kit uses one also(not included). I would recomend this kit as a starter for the guitar hero then you can buy other titles(GH3, GH5, GH metalica) and use the Guitar with them. Some titles use the drum kit and mike also. Again see guitarhero.com for more info on compatiabilty.

Band Hero for Wii

My son encouraged me to get this for our home and we have all enjoyed it immensely! The game itself is more challenging than the Rock Band game that my son-in-law has. For example, rather than just having 4 drum heads all on one level with one being used as a cymbal, Band Hero has three drum heads across then above them on a higher level 2 separate cymbals, both games have the foot pedal for the bass drum. My son says the keys for the guitar are slightly farther apart on this one than for Rock Band and that the higher levels are much faster and more intricate on Band Hero than Rock Band. I will have to take his word for that because neither my husband nor I have gone past the EASY level. LOL

We do wish there were more songs that us older folks were familiar with because that would make it easier for us to follow along but we are still having lots of fun with it. Also wish there was an easier way to get our own choice of songs for the game, perhaps have a sight with songs to choose from and be able to request a customized DVD to use with the instruments? That would really rock! It is nice that it can be used with Guitar Hero DVD's for an expanded library of songs but being able to pick and choose familiar songs would be great and would probably inspire us to play more. I assume the game is not geared towards people over 40 but it would be nice to have at least one DVD of songs from the late 60's through the late 70's or early 80's because there are still some of us who like to pretend that someday we will be a SUPERSTAR!!! :-)

Great Family fun

We bought this for our girls who have enjoyed their WII for the past two years. This takes the experience in a different direction. The music is a bit more popular and family friendly for tweens than the Guitar Hero music appears from the various versions song lists. It has been fun to join in and it still is getting daily play 10 days past Christmas. Materials appear sturdy, time will tell. The drum stand was surprizingly robust. The vendor we traded with were first class and shipped promptly.

We wanted to give the girls some initial experience with musical instruments regarding coordination, rythm and timing. While air guitar or air drums is not the same as musical experience some basic fundamentals seem to be taught.

Good program wish they would come out with a Christian Music version.

Some good/Some bad

I am used to playing Rock Band 2 with my sister, but I like the song selection more for Band Hero, so I decided to try it out. Rock Band seems to be easier in most aspects, so it makes it hard for me to give this a 5 star rating. I hope to adjust more over time to the differences. Having to put the Wii remotes in the instruments is also very inconvenient, I had no idea I would need 3 remotes, so I have ordered another one. As for now I can only use 2 at a time. Description of the game from the manufacturer should make that well known. I feel a little disappointed, but I still have hopes that I will get used to it & learn to love it.Read full review...

Great to get the whole family involved with

We love this family game. Even my 3 year old gets into it (although we sometimes leave her with an unplugged microphone. Definitely more family friendly than guitar hero as the characters are not as "scary" & intense for my small children. Also the song selection is more geared toward pop/rock not as hard rock as the guitar hero titles. It's fun to be able to try all the different instruments for each song. I even find myself sneaking in a song or two after the children go to bed. The only thing I think is missing is it would be nice to create different band profiles in career mode so I could have one set of scores with the whole family and maybe another for just the adults. That's not really that big of an issue really though because we mostly use party mode with the children. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a wii game the entire family can play together and not have to be in competition with each other all the time.Read full review...

Fast, easy purchase!

This Band Hero game is so fun! The songs are a bit more modern and mainstream so it seems to appeal to a wider audience. We play for hours with just our family (2 adults and an 8-year-old boy) and also with our adult friends. You can play any of the Rock Band games using these controllers as well so it's a double bonus because my son loves Lego Rock Band.Read full review...

Band Hero

We are very pleased with it. The grandkids were so excited Christmas Eve when they opened it.We bought it because it was a family thing that all could play and not have to worry about language and all that violence. The thing that I was worried about was, I only had 30 days to return it and I had purchased it over the 30 days for Christmas. I was only hoping and praying that all the parts were there and it worked. I feel they should have given a 60 day return policy. That is a fair time. I enjoy shopping on-line but this was a scary buy.I will probably not buy from them again because of the short return policy. Thank You so much. The price was right but my old heart can't take that stress!! Happy New Year.

FUN EASY SET UP ENJOYABLE FOR FAMILY 7+UP

Very easy to set up out of the box. Fun for the family 7 year old reconizes songs from the 70's & 80's of course there are the songs of today. We played for the first time together (me , wife, 2 kids) we lost track of time 3 hours later. The cool thing is also that as you play more songs get "unlocked" and new songs that we did not even know we had are there!!!Read full review...

It's the best game I've seen for any age!

I bought this for my family and me to play together and I have to say, I am astonished on how good this product is! Not only is it good for teens, but it is also very fun to sing along with some of the songs, even if you aren't a major fan of the song. It just gets you up to have fun is what I'm saying. So if you have any children or just want to play along and follow the trend, this game would be right for you :)Read full review...
