Barbara Cook Sings Mostly Sondheim in this particular CD; however the lady can sing anything for me. Us. We all love her voice, her history which you can hear in her notes. She breathes a zest for life into each sound penned by Sondheim but interpreted by Ms. Cook. She is a one and only, a true gem to the world of music. I was lucky enough to see her perform about ten years ago. What an instrument of song in the finest sense. sweet inspiration = sweet interpretation

for those of you who, like me, can't seem to get enough of the various interpretation's of stephen sondheim's work i easily recommend this.
it's boggling what was actually achieved during this man's incredible lifetime....greater richness in one stitch than many achieve in entire garments and barbara cook's collection of mostly-sondheim songs is solid and respectful and understands this as evidenced in her most-thoughtful package.
i found this 2-cd set to be a true bargain.Read full review...
