All events, good graphics, So-So game play

Summer Olypics in China. Well, I was impressed that all sporting events were covered in the game and it had the ability to play two players locally or over Xbox network. The graphics are quite good, (water was realistic, and body movement was fairly good on most events) The sound was ok, but did not have any option to change music. Many of the actual events can take quite a bit of practice and luck to figure out even after watching it demo'd. Overall game play I would rate as "ok" to "so-so" depending in the event being played.

On the down side: The menu navigation is a little akward, load times between events was longer than it should be, and the constant "bother" of the staging screens (basic setup step for each event, slowing you down before you can take action) are waaaaay overkill. Frankly, this became annoying very quickly- since each event required you to constantly hit "A" to page thru staging screens, before you could start the actual event (sometimes it required you to press "A" 3 or 4 times for each turn, on each event)

Bottom Line: This wasn not quite like the old, popular "Track-n-field" game that I was hoping it would be. If you can pick it up for under $20, are patient and like sports games you can take on friends with- then you might want to add this one to your collection. I did.

Good from far but FAR FROM GOOD

As an avid Track & Field fan and former athlete, I was looking forward to the release o this game for some time, only to be greatly disappointed for several reasons:

1) The controls are virtually impossible to use! It doesn't take any intellectual effort to push A * B as fast as possible... yet, even when you try to, it is never fast enough.
2) The gameplay is unrealistic. Even if you press the appropriate keys to move as fast as possible, you are still lightyears behind the computer simulated characters. I think the fastest 100m I ran on the game was about a 14.00 sec. Now tell me, which Olympian even runs above 11 seconds on a bad race? NONE!!!
3) You cannot create yor own character.
4) You have to be a member of XBOX live just to access the world records. In other words, if you don't have XBOX live, the world records won't be listed.
5) The graphics are sub-standard for a 'next-generation' game.

I think ther are probably others reasons I am not thinking of at the moment.

But, at very least (in my opinion) for the reasons above, this game is a total waste of your money, even if you love the Olympics!!!!

I would highly recommend as a group game

I wanted to get a game where everyone started on even ground,,, there was only going to be how fast your fingers flew to decide the winner. This is also great for up to 4 people so everyone gets to play eventually and not just sit and watch. Good game overall....Read full review...

Olympic Game could be easier.

Game is rough on your hands. Not easy to play. Fun if you like a little competition. It is hard for young children to play, but teenagers should love it.

very good

I bought the game during the olympics. It took a while to get here, but once it finally arrived I have really enjoyed it. Beijing 2008 is a very challenging Xbox 360 game on many different levels. The game makes you use the controller as a rapid fire punch button device in some of the sporting events; which can be frustrating, but once you get the hang of it, it's fun.Read full review...

Beijing 2008 PS3

I am addicted to this game. The graphics are very good, however the gameplay is a bit tiresome (tapping X and O repeatedly). If you always have friends over this game is a must buy, it is 4 player and you can play online with and against your friends. The events vary from the 100m to Judo and Kayaking which are extremely hard.

This is an enjoyable game and I recommend it to others.

Typical Olympic Game.

Being an avid olympic fan, I love anything that has to do with the olympics so this was an easy purchase for $10. This is a typical olympic game where the faster you tap the buttons, the faster you go. The only advantage this time is that the graphics are really good.Read full review...

Bejing: Olympic Games 2008

I am very pleased with this purchase. The Game is in excellant condition and arrived quicker than expected. I love the game and have been playing it quite a bit. It is as expected not the best game for graphics but the game play is fun. Worth buying especially if you can get it for under $10 like I did.Read full review...
