CD is OK but 'Complete Concert LP' is much better

I bought this CD for my brother who had very good memories of the concert LP. When I heard the CD, I didn't think it was SOOOO great and I told him so. He then explained to me that Harry Belafonte makes some funny and entertaining comments and asked if I had heard them. I said no, this CD only has the songs, no comments at all. He made me realize there was something more about the album he had heard when he was younger. So, I started my quest to get the LP (the complete Concert). After I found it and bought it, I see the difference now. The concert is very, very entertaining and lots, lots better than the CD alone. But I think it is still OK to have the CD if you only like the songs.Read full review...

still the best!

I listened to this album on vinyl when i was in high school-late 50's.Belafonte was a great entertainer then and still is 50 years later.The sound is cleaner of coarse than it was on my much used ans abused lp album-if anything I am able to hear the subleties of the music better and the vocals are crisp and clean.Jimmy Buffet eat your hrart out This is the original island music.Read full review...

Belafonte at Carnegie Hall

This is one of the best concerts ever recorded. I had the Album when my kid's were small and they still sing these wonderful songs. Harry Belafonte is at his very best on this CD. It is a must buy purchase for anyone who loves Jamican Sounds!!!Read full review...
