Adorable dogs, great family movie!

Talking Chihuahuas taking part in a very suspenseful tale are entertaining for all ages of animal lovers, not just the kids. Be sure to get the sequels #2 and #3 when you get to see the adorable puppies take part in more adventures. Great special effects!Read full review...

Fun family humor, appropriate for all...

Most children's movies have some adult humor to keep parents entertained too. This is no different, but still appropriate for all ages. You just can't beat talking animals, and the line up of celebrity voices totally makes the characters fun and personable.

The human love story is weak, as were the characters. The gardener is a hot Latino and should have been given a little deeper or more layered personality. There are so many female leads that would have been a better choice and several times wondered why Piper Perabo took the lead. Jamie-Lee Curtis is perfect in her role as the doting "mommy" and her character had the most vibrant personality and was used to the advantage of the story. More of her would have been even better and enhanced the human aspect. However, understanding that the humans are secondary to the "plot" you just have to roll with it.

Overall, one of the better non-Disney children's films to arrive on the scene and a film to be watched over and over with the kids.

Beverly Hills Chichuachua is exactly about a cute little chichuachua.

The movie was really entertaining especially for dog lovers. I bought for my mom and she has watched it several times this week.

Dogs really do talk after ALL!

This 91 minute film tells about a pampered Beverly Hills chihuahua named Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore) who, while on vacation in Mexico with her owner Viv's (Jamie Lee Curtis) niece, Rachel (Piper Perabo), gets lost and must rely on her friends to help her get back home before she is caught by a dognapper who wants to ransom her.

In the meantime, Papi (voiced by George Lopez), a male chihuahua who is in love with her is in pursuit of her. Papi's master (Manolo Cardona), a handsome young gardener for Viv, slowly develops a romantic interest in Rachel.

Chloe befriends a lonely German Shepherd (voiced by Andy Garcia) who travels with her to protect her from the evil Doberman (voiced by Edward James Olmos) who wants to return her and her diamond collar to the dognapper.

As a dog lover, I loved this movie. Ever since I fell in love with the Taco Bell dog, I wanted a movie filled with chihuahuas. The flow of this movie was free and easy and had many valiant and noble gestures of kindness embedded throughout the movie. The children loved this movie and kept them on the edge of their sets. The desert canyon scene was one of my favorites and is very unforgettable.

Don't miss this family movie for any reason. The dog chatter was more believable and sincere than the human script! hah. See you in the funny papers!

Here are some of the main characters:

Drew Barrymore ... Chloe (voice)
Piper Perabo ... Rachel Ashe Lynn
Andy Garcia ... Delgado (voice)
George Lopez ... Papi (voice)
Cheech Marin ... Manuel (voice)
Paul Rodriguez ... Chico (voice)

Good For Dog Lovers of all Ages

I bought this movie for my 11-year-old daughter. I thought it would be silly, but to my surprise I really enjoyed it. The human romance (with the perfectly-cast Piper Perabo) was just as cute as the dog romance. Both romances taught the same lesson: don't dismiss someone because of their race or economic status! The scenes where pampered Chihuahua Chloe is lost in Mexico are genuinely suspenseful because the evil Doberman that's chasing her looks really scary. Yes, you CAN make an entertaining film without sex, foul language, or gore!Read full review...
