RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

I bought this phone because my friend has one and loves it. So when my phone broke down in the middle of my contract I decided to get one off ebay. It's a great buy! The phone is the perfect size and weight. it's nice and light and fits in my pocket without being too bulky. I love the conversation style text messaging and the trackball navigation. it's much more responsive than the touch screen navigation on the new blackberrys if you ask me. Easy to use. Highly recommended!Read full review...

A great BlackBerry for the price!

I love this phone! Its the smallest BlackBerry of all current BlackBerry phones. Battery life is great, lasts a few days for me. Also the battery charges really fast, I think around 1-2 hours to charge it fully! Also phone is very light and fit comfortably in my pant pocket. One thing I didn't like so much was the quality of the pics the camera takes... All in all, a really good phone for the price!Read full review...

BlackBerry Pearl 8100, In a world of its own

The one I reviewed was red and had the rollerball instead of a joy stick of the past. Happily this BlackBery has lost its short & squatty look. Unfortunately, it still has the small Qwerty keyboard that would seem to only fit a female or child's hand. For us "Fat Fingers" it is still a nightmare! It would seem to have many fine features, but while the rollerball was fun to play with, I still found myself struggling with it. Take away the qwerty keyboard and replace it with a normal alpha numeric keypad thereby giving room for bigger keys. Replace the rollerball with 4 arrow keys, not too small. With these changes the Pearl would become a real gem.Read full review...

Excellent Phone, Great Bang for the Buck

Pros: Nice keyboard good click response, using trackball to navigate is easy, nice screen, small and can fit in any pocket, camera w/ Flash, SureType (great for fast texters!)802.11b works great and other generous little features.

Cons: Speaker and microphone could be a tad louder, battery case is fragile a case for the phone is recommended, somewhat short battery life.

Other than that, this is a great solid phone for those looking to buy an inexpensive starter business phone. With built in wi-fi, dual-band GSM, and a bunch of other neat little features this phone delivers exceptional performance for the price.

BLACKBERRY PEARL 8100 (T-MOBILE

This is a nice little phone, packed with features. For those that want to be able to do "real" internet surfing with their phone, it proves QUITE useful. You will need a data plan, but with that, you can add different applications that extend the functionality of the phone immensely. Anything form Social networking sites like Facebook, Yahoo, AOL, & other Instant Messaging programs can be downloaded for free. And there are MANY other programs you can download and use for free, which is one of the things I LOVE about the usefulness of this phone. You can take pictures with the camera, and save then to an SD card added to the phone. And even save music to the SD card, to listen to music.
All in all, a VERY nice phone. There are 2 issues surfacing with the Blackberry phones though:sometimes the trackballs start working erratically, but a quick shot or two of "dust remover" in a can cures that problem for quite awhile. Or the trackball can be replaced fairly easily, with instructions found through a search engine such as google.
The 2nd problem I have just rea;ized with these phones is the mini-USB port seems to be prone to trouble on some of these phones. But if you get a charging cradle or an external battery charger (both which can be inexpensively found on Ebay), that will not be as much of an issue.

Well its a nice phone, it's true the keys do stick...

I decided to buy the blackberry pearl cause it didn't look in bad shape. Which it wasn't. The backdoor slides off on its own & it didn't come with a trackbacll which I was aware of when I purchased it. I just bought a trackbacll with my choice of color. What's really frustrating me is the sticking of the keys, my fingers hurt when I have to press on them really hard. (It's #2, #3 and the A S key)I may just have to take it to get repaired. I guess you get what you pay for, but it may turn out a bit more expensive since those keys need repairing.Read full review...

BlackBerry Pearl 8100

The Black Berry Pearl 8100 seems to be a decent phone. However after purchacing it used off e-Bay I have yet to learn how to remove the applications of the previous owner and it is also very difficult to work. My husband hates the size, if you have large fingers its very difficult to use the mouse or key pad. I would say all in all there are many other options besides this phone at the same price level. I use the phone in business everyday and don't hate it, but will replace it with something else for sure. Its good, but not as good as I expected.Read full review...

good pearl bad pearl

i purchased a blackberry pearl that took way to long to recieve and when it did it didnt work. then there was mass confussion on getting me another one. i still havent heard back from the place that i bought it from to return the broken one. they want me to send it back on my own dime. i will not! i have wrote them emails asking for how and when they are going to send the return postage and there have been no respones. i still have it and will send it back when they send there end of the deal. i will never do business with these people ever again. the phone that i recieved in replace of the one that was broke also came with a bad battery. so i had to go and buy one for the new phone. it didnt come with any manual and i am guessing that it was a refurbished phone. it would have been easier for us to buy a new phone at the AT&T store. next time that is going to be our route...Read full review...
