Really good device, great features

For it's age, (relative to all devices currently available,) it is a good device with many features. Only drawback is that the screen is very fragile. Once cracked, the screen will not function, rendering the phone useless, unlike other similar devices. Overall, I still recommend it.Read full review...

Short-lived

A year of minimal use and one fine day it just wouldn't work, the red light kept on for several minutes and then nothing. Whether I do a reboot, turn it off, recharge it, remove the battery and put it back, nothing happens, the phone stays dead with just the red light on. I suspected it must be the battery so i bought a brand-new replacement but it turned out it is not the battery, i 'm still having nothing but a red light. With the warranty good only for 30 days from purchase date, this unit is now useless.Read full review...

Great choice but you may not be able to run some Android apps you want.

The Z10 smartphone gives you the great Blackberry hardware and OS and the ability to run native and Android apps (by manually sideloading or using the Snap or Amazon loader). The Wolfram based voice search (hold the mute button) works well and the WiFi is fast. The buttonless slide up/down/side interface is better than iOS or Android.

Most but not all Android apps work on the BB OS. Anything that needs Google Play Services running will not work and other exceptions (usually regarding digital right management like playing live TV) may not work. For example Netflix for Android does work on BB10 but Google Earth does not.

The ability to put an SD card into the V10 and use the card as a hard drive by a connected computer and have apps store all media to the card instead of to internal memory is nice. Also nice is the HDMI output.

Another perk is the ability to use the BB V10 as a remote control for a BB Playbook. My tests show this to work very well.

Great upgrade from a BlackBerry Torch

In August of 2015 I decided that my trusty BlackBerry Torch 9810 with its outdated OS 7 and 3G data network was due for a well deserved retirement. Upon searching for a replacement, I researched online, comparing this to other BlackBerrys with OS 10 and other smartphones using the 4G network, by other manufacturers. I decided that this was indeed the model of phone I wanted to have for the next five plus years. I downloaded some free software from the BlackBerry site, plugged in my Torch using a USB to Micro USB cable, activated a program called "Device Switch" and waited. After the program was done with the Torch, I unplugged it, removed the SIM card, used a SIM card punch (purchased separately) to cut my SIM card down to the Micro SIM card size needed for my new Z10, installed the card, reinstalled the battery and plugged the Z10 into my computer to continue with the "Device Switch". When it was done, all of my information and compatible apps had transferred over to my new phone, contacts, calendar, notes, text messages, call logs, everything, was now on my new Z10. I did have a few problems with information stored in my new phone due to mistakes I made and by initially trying to use "Device Switch" on both phones via my wireless network. I highly recommend using the USB cord over the wireless option. You may have different results with the wireless, as others may have. I'm just relating my experience, but that was me getting off on a Tangent. This Z10 has a dual core, 1.5 GHz processor for fast processing, very good sound quality and volume, even with the speaker phone and pairs and links easily with the several Bluetooths I use regularly. All of the features this phone has that are similar to the Torch's are improved and better. I especially appreciate the enhanced calendar and reminder features. Blackberry World has more apps than I will ever use. The touchscreen is excellent and even works well with a protective cover. Battery life is adequate for a days use the way I use it. I familiarized myself with various settings and have optimized my phone for extended battery life, only turning certain features on as I need them, ensuring that I will have more than enough battery life. The micro USB port for charging and data transfer along with its WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity make this phone universally compatible with any electronic device I can think of as well has my home network. BlackBerry has downloadable software, free for the taking that works flawlessly with my phone and computers. I am sure I must be leaving a few things out, as I can't recall all the things I can do with this phone and I am learning new things it will do with each passing week. I am very happy with my upgrade!Read full review...

Great phone to keep you organized

The Blackberry Z10 with OS 10.3.2 is a solid phone and keeps everything organized in one place, the Hub. All your email, text messages, calls and social media are all in the Hub and well organized. The Z10 has a strong radio which pulls in good signals to keep you connected. Call quality of the Z10 is excellent. Voices on both ends are loud and clear.Read full review...

Love the ease of the Z10

I have liked using BB for some time, the Z10- I like the size, easy of slide screen, love the hub - makes it so easy t go between messages of all types. I don't like that a number of apps/games don't work on this phone but does on less advanced and cheaper models such as candy crush saga and instant chat groups for eg and right now the BlackBerry world link doesn't work either.Read full review...

Would I buy a Z10 again? Yes, but maybe not after the Z30 comes out.

I was apprehensive to jump from a BB 9900 series running OS7 (not iOS 7, BB OS7) to a Z10 running BB10 because for me the 9900 had a good OS and I loved the physical keyboard. It also had phenomenal build quality. I didn't have any interest in changing platforms either. I've used but not owned an iP4, 4S and 5 and came away unimpressed to say the least. I also currently own a Sony Xperia SL running Android 4.2 (I think that's the version loaded, it's either that or 4.1, either way, it's been demoted to a toy for the kids for the most part). It's a nice phone with a decent OS but messaging is lackluster. Plus I'm not a fan of the stock keyboard. After several months of indecision and instead of using my upgrade discount, I decided to find an unlocked Z10 on eBay. As soon as I received the unit, I charged it up and was ready to play. I had to wait to receive a new SIM card so I used it on Wi-Fi for several days which worked perfectly. For any reviews where the user is put off by the gesture based UI or couldn't grasp it, I simply don't understand. I had the phone in my hand for less than a minute and all but mastered it. Swipe up, down, left, right, flick words into emails, BBM; the whole thing for me was very intuitive. I pick up the Xperia some days trying to swipe everything on it, then I realize I have to deal with lowly back and home buttons. BBRY gets a lot of flack for their app selection but once again, I don't care a lot about apps. I've browsed through Google Play countless times just seeing what apps are available and truthfully, for me, it's annoying. There is simply too much junk to filter through. Along the line of not caring much for apps, I always read, well there isn't a native Instagram for BB10. I loaded Instragram on my Xperia the first day I got the phone, which has been at least 9 months now. I have used that app a total of three times because I have no use for it. I also don't play games on my phones. I have enough stuff to do without playing Candy Crush or Angry Birds all day. My main uses for a phone - calls, messaging and internet. The Z10 pretty much leaves the other major OSes in the dust with those. While I apparently don't represent the norm anymore, for me, a BB is still the device that handles my needs for a mobile device. And once again, as has been my experience with the BBs I've owned, the build quality is quite good. I especially like the textured back panel. If I do have one complaint, the camera and camera options could use a bit of improvement. Hopefully those are addressed with 10.2. Sorry for the lengthy review.Read full review...

Z10 worthy of consideration.

I actually purchased this phone for my spouse. Personally I use the Q10 since I love the physical keyboard. But since he was using an Android phone I set up this phone for him and helped him learn how to use it. I was very surprised on the features. I have been a Blackberry user for years. The Blackberry 10 phones are amazing and pack a a sound operating system like always. The touch screen keyboard works well for those with larger fingers and offers spelling choices as you type w/o auto correcting. You can use the shortcut and hit the space key to use the recommendations. BB learns your typing habits and your "lingo". The touch screen is smooth and highly responsive. The 10.2 update allows for all kinds of personalizations that the 10.1 os is a little behind on. Some carriers have not released the official 10.2 yet. Be patient as it is coming. The Z10 is great size w/o feeling huge in your hand or pocket. But it is not lacking in power, camera or video. The sounds are amazing and the Z10 offers "facetime" shots similar to Apple if you like to take a lot of "selfies". The Z10 has the ability to make folders very much like Apple iPods/pads etc. BB is still working on apps, so people need to be patient as 3rd party or BB roll out new apps. BB has been slapped down often, but this is a very solid easy to use modernized BB. In the world of iPhones and Droid, BB is easily overlooked. iPhones for memory you get what you pay for and Apple is always updating. So while the iPhone may be cool, it is often "outdated" in 6 months. The iPhone 5's were also riddled w/ issues when they 1st came out. As for Droid, Google keeps updating their food based os...but when they keep moving ahead, your phone doesn't get support anymore because they are looking for the next big thing. And literally, the new Droid phones are HUGE. Who wants to put a mini tablet in their pocket? There are some just as loyal to their droids or iPhones and that's great. Matter of preference. Personally I love the size, functionality and stability of BB.Read full review...

Amazing Phone that you have to use to really understand how great it is.

The Z10 is really an incredible phone with an amazing OS. The operating system is new and is constantly being updated, and everytime you get an update it's like getting a brand new phone!

Very cool stuff, the hub is irreplaceable. I mean once you have the hub anything else is too slow in comparison. Just imagine having your Twitter, Facebook, all email accounts, whatsapp, bbm, calls, and voicemail notifications accessible from one spot, and accessible at anytime.

Not only can you read your notifications from within the Hub you can even reply from there, without having to opening any apps.

Once you learn all of the gestures you can really get things done with this phone.

The screen is super clear, very high quality. The build quality is excellent, the grip on the back of the phone is great too. The camera is great as long as you know how to use it. The battery life can be improved but still gets me about 10 hours on heavy use.

BB Z10 is the rebirth of a giant

BB Z10 is the rebirth of a giant, for those of us who survived the storm of watching how the other platforms grew exponentially and waited faithfully for our turn, our time has come. Z10 is the smother, friendlier, great looking smartphone I have ever used. It even made me forget my addiction to fiscal qwerty keyboard and for the first time I can use a full touch screen without pressing the wrong key all the time. Battery life is incredible after the update and can go a full day and night without shutting down WIFI or bluetooth. It works so good that even my wife (changed to Galaxy S III) and my son (Iphone 3-4-5 fanatic) dropped their phones to wonder around my the Z10, opinions,my wife is coming back to BB and my son trust the Iphone 6 will avenge his honor. If you are a BB person feel safe that we are here for long time, if you're not, take a good look I'll bet you'll be as enthusiastic as I am. Flaws? Since it is a new platform only a small amount of Apps are available, but if the pace of 100,000 by it's Second month is steady kept, and with 30,000 developed in the last month as a proof that it can, this flaw will be conquered soon enough to keep happy those who consider this as the most important part of a smartphone.Read full review...
