Stange movie then. Not changed since first release.

This Director's Cut is not narrated as the original was. So the lead character's thoughts and reasons for acting as he does are hidden. It makes the mover harder to understand and follow. Still, it is a classic and worthy of viewing. The vision of the future is unnerving. Slavery of whom ever is still wrong and what the reasoning is for the enslavement of the replicants is no excuse.Read full review...

Somebody turn on the light...

Atmosphere throughout the film is very depressing...dark, wet...all the way through. Story is great but could have been produced much, much better. Cast did their part to pull it off, but...

Blade Runner directors cut is all good except the end!

The theatre ending was better than directors cut which had them get into the elevator to run away and that's IT. Boom it's over. Director's cut ending doesn't cut it. No speculation about her incept or termination date or lack thereof, no note of hope or love, just the paranoia of getting away from other blade runner (who leaves his little paper oragami figure there for them to find outside the doorway). I felt frustrated/cheated out of a more "good guys might win this thing" ending. Oh well. All else is spectacular of course, full effects.Read full review...

Blade Runner Director's Cut 1997

Blade Runner Theatre Release 1982 The Director Ridley Scott decided to improve the Movie. Enhanced video effects and sound. He disagreed with the Studio's Happy Ever After ending and the Voiceover by Harrison Ford's character, Decker. This 1997 version of Blade Runner has removed both. Still has the controversy of Slavery, Japanese-Mod lifestyle, Futuristic but sloppy World. A plot similar to a Humphrey Bogart Detective at work. Special Effects 1982 still holds up. NO CGI. Movie adapted from Philip K. Dick novelRead full review...

Blade Runner-The Director's Cut (1997, DVD)

This is an outstanding movie with landmark set design and miniature model effects all done prior to the onslaught of Computer Generated special effects. Los Angeles of the future is one of the major characters in this homage to film noir which had a profound effect on the look and feel of every every sci-fi & fantasy film to follow. 25 years old and still timeless. If I had it to do over, I'd buy the newer 2 disc set which has more than 3 hours of additional material with cast and crew interviews including director Ridley Scott and the major stars. The future looked unappealing and scarry in this jarring glimpse and here we are living it...Great visual effects by Douglas Trumball and score by Vangelis. This is an amazing movie to watch unfold when you reflect on the fact that every frame of it was exposed in a film camera.Read full review...

Blade Runner - The Director's Cut (1997, DVD)

I've been a si/fy enthusiast all my life. Blade Runner has been a favorite for many years. The unique quality of this movie is characterization. You really do care about the replicants.Coupled with a great story that takes you for a wonderful ride, it never gets older staying fresh and sharp with every viewing. Since this is the stuff of classics the art director of Blade Runner created a memorable reality. It gives you the pleasure of watching a believable time and place electronically painted on the theatrical canvas of a movie screen. The director's cut is just the cream floating to the top, giving you something extra to enjoy. It doesn't matter from what genre this movie represents. Whatever the special magic that embellishes great movies is all here. Every film library should have a copy of Blade Runner.Read full review...

Best version of a great movie. Well worth the money.

This is the Director approved version of the Blade Runner film. This makes it darker and less "happy". That of course equates to "artistic" and "edgy".

Still, this is the better version and it is well worth having it in your collection. The DVD doesn't have many bells and whistles, but it has what counts.Read full review...

It is Blade Runner. Watch these Hollywood moroons ruin the remake.

Timeless classics from Philip K. Dick who in his later years of life
became a wealthy writer after many attempts in the world of
sci-fi ( Pulp novels, exploitation, etc ).

This version of the film is the deleted scenes assembled together
to form a movie. Think of it like Highlander II the fanmade fairytale
ending with but with all the scenes that was missing from the original
release.

Honestly I never knew anything about Blade Runner but my own mother
seemed to be a fan of it as well. Great film, next to "THX....."
along with "Dark Star".

Sad part how the Harrison Ford also plays the Han Solo dies in
Star Wars ( the Disney flop ) but the Princess passed away in real
life. Just amaazing.

I really really really really wuv Blade Runner and Appreciate the
ability of writers from Films like these including the
"Third Eye" AKA the Terminatrix by Sofia Stweart. Just goes to
show you that college education actual is able to pave a path of
creativity that everybody can enjoy.

Most of Philip K. Dicks later years was towards God and ideas of
God. Do "Androids Dream of Sheep" ? IDK but this Disc 4 makes a
great reference to Graphic designers, and other fiction buffs.

Blade Runner - The Director's Cut (1997, DVD)

This is a must-have for every Harrison Ford fan. Although it has become more of a cult-type classic, it is still a good movie . . . with one of the best actors of all time.

With movies like Underworld and Aeon Flux seeing some level of popularity today, Blade Runner is a movie that fans of the dark thriller should take time to see.Read full review...

Blade Runner - The Director's Cut (1997, DVD)

This is one of the best SiFi movies ever made. The visual effect are by far the best ever made for 1983. The movie paints a very scary view of the future and what man kind do with the AI robots. Harrison Ford and the cast play their role with perfect movement.
I love the story line and how humans and robots try to understand the meaning of life.
It is a movie that will stand the test of time in my book.

Great!

Oh, Blade Runner. My review will be totally biased because I blindly love anything where artificial life gets emotions that overwhelms it (like the episode of Star Trek with Data's daughter). Beyond that, I commend the neo-noir art direction, Vangelis's cool score, and strong performances from the cast. I haven't seen the Final Cut version, but I definitely recommend the Director's Cut over the previous versions because the voice-over that was removed for this version made the story a bit pedestrian.Read full review...
