Historically inaccurate .

Bought it to watch again because I had read that the portrayal of Frank Hamer was borderline defamatory . That turned out to be true the way they portrayed one of the greatest Texas Rangers . Warren Beatty's acting at high school level .Read full review...

Bonnie and Clyde - Two People Run Amock!!

Like, this was a real good movie, not excellent, but better than just good. The acting, the screenplay, the storyline, it was all real quality stuff.

This guy, like, Warren Beatty, he plays the Clyde role real well, like he's some kind of upstart or something, just like the real Clyde was. And Faye Dunaway plays the babydoll, Bonnie Parker. She gets down, makin it happen, anyway she meets Clyde and it isn't long before they be raising cain.

One thing, having Gene Hackman play Clyde's brother, like, no way could Warren beatty's brother be Gene Hackman.

Anyway, Bonnie and Clyde meet, and race across the countryside, robbing banks and shooting people up during the Depression era. It was all just like how it all really went down, like in real life.

And the Michael Pollard guy, his character played the 5th wheel real well, a real loser type who hooks up with Bonnie and Clyde and tries to be a big shot, even though he's clearly small-time.

In the movie, they take the Texas Ranger and make a fool of him, taking his picture, and Bonnie gettin down with him while they photograph it, and the ranger can't do anything to stop it cause he's handcuffed, well, in the end, that Texas ranger tracks down Bonnie and Clyde and they set them up, set em up so bad that when the Law catches up with Bonnie and Clyde, they shoot them up with Thompson machine guns.

Man, I tell you, they shot up Bonnie and Clyde so bad, when they were done, Faye Dunaway was more bullet than woman.

Overall this is a good movie, and it can make an otherwise lousy evening pretty good.

I'm Captain James T Kirk, over and out.
Beam me up, Joe!

Beatty & Dunaway are excellent--the movie is very entertaining! Four stars!

I had seen this movie years ago, probably at the theater when it came out and remembered enjoying it. As an avid reader of true crime books & bios, and having just finished a bio on Bonnie & Clyde, I thought I'd enjoy watching the movie again. My winning bid made it possible to actually own it (the price was right!). I watched it the night I received it and again enjoyed it. Beatty & Dunaway are both excellent in their roles, the movie is entertaining and the action scenes (for their day) were very good. However, you must realize that this is a movie and not the true story of two of the eras most daring robbers. For that get the book. Would I watch it again, probably in a year or two. I have also let my friends borrow it and they also enjoyed it. I recommend the movie and gave it four stars & not five only because it's not their actual life story.Read full review...

A fabulous use of all film-making techinques

Bonnie and Clyde is a classic movie from the 1960s that reflects the time period in its plot and it's aura. Throughout the film, Bonnie, Clyde and their gang fight to break free from the expectations, limitations and ideals that their parents generation pushed on them. As a result, it emulates the way youth grew up and thought during the 60s - very rebelliously. The film itself is a push away from the happy-go-lucky films which had come before it, similarly rebelling against conventional film storylines.

The film is thought-provoking and offers insight into the way of life during the 60s. Besides this, the acting is spectacular (Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty SHINE in their roles as Bonnie and Clyde) and the cinematography, direction and editing emphasize the message of each story within the film and make even the little scenes full of depth.

It is a spectacular beginning to the GANGSTER FILM genre, before the mob came into play. A great one, recommended to all who love watching good films.

Aged like fine wine is Bonnie and Clyde

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the movie has aged very well. I thoroughly enjoyed the acting, looking especially at Michael J. Pollard's performance since he recently died. Every actor, even in minor speaking roles was well chosen and I heartily recommend getting this DVD.Read full review...

A superb movie-factual, entertaining....and underrated!

This film is excellent. Warren Beatty is great as Clyde Barrow, Faye Dunaway-an excellent Bonnie Parker. Gene Hackman, Michael J. Pollard, and Estelle Parsons give astonishing performances as supporting cast. 10 Academy Award nominations-including Best Picture, Best Actor-Warren Beatty, Best Actres-Faye Dunaway. Won Best Supporting Actress-Estelle Parsons. Sensational film, which was violent for it's time is truly underrrated. In my opinion, it's the most underrated mob movie ever made, tied with The St. Valentine's Day Massacre(1967) and The Valachi Papers (1972). The cast ansd screenplay couldn't be better-great efforts from the whole cast. Arthur Penn directs very well. This is a film that tells the REAL story-like The St. Valentine's Day Massacre and Goodfellas, The Untouchables, etc. Realism is a key ingredient in a mob film. Thrilling, captivating, and exciting-Bonnie and Clyde captures the true crime story of the most dangerous couple in crime-Bonnie and Clyde. Gene Wilder's first film role and Two Nominations for Best Supporting Actor-Gene Hackman and Michael J. Pollard.Read full review...

Bonnie and Clyde (DVD, 1999)

Bonnie and Clyde was a very enjoyable movie with lots of violence and police chases. The story begins when Clyde Barrow (Warren Beatty) shows up in West Dallas, Texas shortly after being released from prison in 1932. While attempting to steal a car, a young girl Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway), sees him and tells him to get away from her grandmother's car. Quite taken by this young handsome drifter, she flirts with him. He buys her a soft drink, and brags that he just got out of prison. She is impressed by him and he robs the store and steals a car just to show off for her. Sick of working as a waitress and dying of boredom, she takes off with him. This was just the beginning of what would be a two and one-half year long crime spree which included the robbing of 17-20 banks, grocery stores, gas stations, and at least one automobile dealer. Along the way, C.W. Moss (Michael J. Pollard), Clyde's brother, Buck (Gene Hackman), and his wife Blanche (Estelle Parsons), and five others join the gang. Their crime spree extends from Texas into Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Louisiana. The Depression is crushing the nation, and the Barrow Gang are robing the dirty bankers who are taking away people's homes and farms. They become celebrities, when they steal money and give it to ordinary people several times. Clyde commits murder when he shoots a banker in Oklahoma, and now the police and Texas Rangers are after them. In a shootout with police while escaping their hide-out in Joplin, Missouri, several police are killed and both Buck and Blanche are wounded. Buck has been shot through the brain and is dying. Bonnie and Clyde get away with C.W., but they are both wounded. Buck is dead and Blanche is blind. C.W. takes them to Louisiana to his father's house where they recuperate for a few weeks. Texas Ranger, Frank Hammer, tracked them to Bienville Parish, Louisiana and on May 23, 1934, he and several Louisiana sheriff deputies, shot them to death in an ambush. Clyde was 25, and Bonnie was 23. At the time, aside from robing banks, Bonnie and Clyde weren't married, and the sexual aspect of their relationship was exploited by newspapers. This boosted readership of their exploits. Over the course of their crime spree, at least nine police officers and three civilians were murdered by the Barrow Gang.Read full review...

Misleading

I never heard of Widescreen Full Screen.......It's either one or the other and I've bought a Lot of used movies. This is definitely not Widescreen and when you set the format to "zoom"
you can't see the subtitles. I'm hearing impaired and without the subtitles, the understanding goes to 50%. Saying its Widescreen is misleadingRead full review...

Bonnie and Clyde

I remember seeing this movie when I was young and would watch it every time it came on TV. I thought Warren Beatty was the most handsome man, and Michael J. Pollard....well, what can I say, he's Michael J. Pollard, always goofy but loveable! A good action movie with excellent actors in the title roles. I love it when Faye Dunaway says, "We rob banks!"Read full review...
