Vintage Digital Delay

The Boss line of pedals, made by Roland IN JAPAN are quite functional and easy to understand. I recognize many of the sounds from songs of the last 30 yrs. I can dial in specific delays without having difficulty. The best option for the money. I’ve got 20 different MIJ BOSS and enjoy every single one !! Read full review...

DD-3 IMHO

Great delay pedal for what it does. By that I mean that it doesn't have a bunch of modern feature (i.e. Tap tempo or reverse delay or looping or even a long delay time) but for a simple, short or medium delay it's great. I use mine for slap back (single repeat 200ms delay) and occasionally a hammer.Read full review...

If lost or stolen, I'd get another. Period!

I am a gear hound, and I have had 3 of these in the past, present, and will probably end up with one again in the future. There is not much I can say that others haven't already said. I can tell you that Boss made this pedal to take abuse, like a sausage patty. I run this through the loop and the other pedals in front, as this pedal can be rather brighter than other pedals, depending where it is set. I set mine at 12:00 on all 3 knobs, so running it through the loop will tame the sound a bit better depending on your loop system/amp. I use an original 5150 block letter head and it works well for me this way.
Sure, there are other more expensive pedals that claim to do this or that, but overall, this pedals suits the needs for live or rehearsal situations and wont break the bank. Read, research, listen to the video samples, etc. 1st, and if you are still not happy after your purchase, then resell it, as these will hold their value quite well. I have been playing for 35+ years, mostly rock/blues and I always end up coming back to this model.

Great, quality delay pedal

First off, the Boss DD-3 is THE best selling delay pedal since the invention of the electric guitar....that alone should tell you what you're looking at here. I've played with the Boss DD-6 and DD-7,and yes, these higher versions have longer memory and delay speeds, but for what I need, the DD-3 does the trick with excellent sounds. Lots of variations between the two effect knobs, Delay & Feedback. Plus, you're getting the quality of Boss, so you'll have this thing for a couple decades. I have a couple from the early 90's that I still play through today. Overall, if you can get a good price on a used one, this thing is a steal. Brand-new, I would say put down the extra cash for a DD-7, but used I just could pass up this deal.Read full review...

Very cool pedal with a lot of options

I have only used this pedal 2 times so far. It has a lot of adjustments that I still have to learn. Otherwise it may have been a 5 star review. It is very versatile with the delay options. Boss makes great quality pedals! Most all of my pedals are Boss. I would definitely recommend this pedal!Read full review...

Great sound, very easily adjusted to make just the delay sound you want!

I have had experience on the higher end version of this pedal. I use a DD-6 regularly at my folks house, and while that version is pretty amazing, I must say that DD-3 is everything anyone could possibly need. While the DD-6 has a few more options, I believe that for a much more affordable price that you cannot go wrong with this pedal. It has amazing delay sounds everywhere from echo, to a reverb feel, room-sound to a massive repeat. Overall I rate this 5/5 and if I had a scale of 1-10 this would drop in at a solid 9.Read full review...

Easy to use

Out of all the boss delay pedals. DD-3 or DD-7 is the way to go. I read many sources that say the DD-3 is warmer. Many also say DD-7 sounds just as good and has more features. DD-3 is still one of the best and is still available along side the DD-7.Read full review...

Simple, great features, and reliable!

Perfect for solos! it is simple and sounds great, period. I have mine at the end on my effects loop (before the reverb - Holy grail) and it doesn't affect my tone in anyway. Is like knowing that you have a delay in your signal but at the same time you can clearly hear the original sound that comes out of your preamp with all its dynamics, very clear and without alterations to the tone... then, the repetitions start to come out... Not a single noise out of this unit. 10 points for Boss/Roland on this pedal. I have the Taiwan version.Read full review...

Tried and True!

This pedal is a work horse on the stage and even in the studio. Built like a tank the DD-3 is the best selling compact delay pedal in the history of pedals. First introduced as the DD-2 the DD-3 is compact and to the point.

Four different delay modes 800ms, 200ms, 50ms and a Hold function. Then you can tweak each mode with the level, feedback and delay time knobs. It is simple and to the point. A great buy and roadworthy.

It may not have all the bells and whistles as some other pedals like the Digitech hardwired DL-8 but I found that the DL-8 was a problem for me because if I was concentrating on a run and needed lead I would sometimes leave my foot on the pedal which would activate the loop function and that IS NO FUN WHEN PLAYING LIVE.

The DD-3 is the delay I started with in 1993 and is now back on my pedal board, exactly where it should be.

There may be newer versions, but this one really rocks.

New to delay pedals and this is one pedal you hear good things about day in and day out. My initial observations are that it is easy to use and figure out. Boss is good about making the controls "intelligent" by not hiding the functions under funky names, which other manufacturers tend to do. I bought this as a starting place for delay work and when I heard Joe Bonamassa say this is the delay he uses, I knew this pedal must have some working band creditibilty. I am totally satisfied this pedal will be the only delay I will use and look forward to many good years of service.Read full review...

Would Buy Again

There is a learning curve to setting the DD3 delay pedal exactly to one's liking. I just haven't found it yet. Thus far, I like all the effects from this pedal. I reviewed other delay pedals, and determined that this delay pedal is middle of the road for me as it is good for performing and meeting my future needs.Read full review...
