This has become my go-to OD/Dist pedal on my board.

I have had more expensive pedals (Mad Professor, EHX, MXR, OCD. But they never performed well with other effects through my Marshall JVM & JCM. Clean is one thing, but to get a nice lead with effects really lets this Boss shine. The price, amazing! This was a brand new in box never used perfect unit! So happy I took the plunge. Yuck! Does not sound good with my amp

I was all excited to get this but it just does NOT play nicely with my amplifier (solid state Randall RG100ES). Just didn't work for me at all. Maybe it goes well with other amps or playing styles?

Combo drive is a great sounding pedal

I use many Boss products and there all very good quality. The combo drive is a great pedal. What makes it great. You can get a very good clean sound with just a little grit in it or you can get a nice crunch for lead playing. It's great having the level setting to keep it right in the mix. Easy to just reach down and turn it up or down if needed. Having the tone settings is a good idea for different guitars . Single coil or humbuckers and anything in between. I find you really need to experiment with the setting to find your own sound. It's like having extra settings on your amp. Very Responsive Pedal

This is a very guitar volume control responsive device. I want to have a couple more of these with different settings. I currently have this one set for a Carlos Santana tone where you have those liquid slightly chimey clean tones with the guitar turned down low, then when you crank the guitar on full, there is that smooth saturated VOX like "awh" tone, like Santana. Just fantastic. If I get a second one, it will be set a bit cleaner with more treble boost where I would be able to get that Telecaster Brad Paisley type sound.Read full review...

Nails the old combo tone.

This pedal sounds great and it has one of the most effective gain control I've used making it extremely versatile. You can dial this in to the old Fender combo sounds to over the top drive. The "crunch" is spot on old Fender and the tone controls help you get the sound you want. Turn the "crunch" up and you can get some serious saturation reminisant of a full blown stack.
