For typical family recreational use, Yes! Buy this tripod.

If you just want to shoot some steady video or photography, and don't need the highest quality, this is decent tripod for the money. The construction is lightweight, with aluminum rails and rubber feet. Rails slide out easily and lock at any level. The head is hard, sturdy plastic with crank to elevate the neck higher, but it too is plastic so don't force anything here when you use it. Overall, it's not the highest quality but what do you expect for $27? It's as described. I got what I paid for and the quality exceeds the price, but let's not get crazy and expect a professional tripod at this price. The tension and fluidity of the head is good. My intended use for this was for family video of kid's sports so it won't get tons of use. And for that, it's great. BUT, if you have intentions beyond that, don't get this tripod. You probably will wish you splurged for a little more quality that can handle more rigorous use if that's your intention. Happy shooting!Read full review...

Great tripod for the price

This is a tripod for those who love photography but have to operate on a budget. Despite the low price, it is an excellent tripod. When fully extended it is solid as a rock. My camera/lens combination is on the heavy side, but images are absent any evidence of camera shake. The extra height is also greatly appreciated as it relieves the aching back from having to bend while using a shorter unit. Great Tripod for the price - large and light weight!

For the price, it's a great tripod. Not real sturdy, but plenty for my SLR camera and remarkably light weight. Yes I would recommend this to anyone looking for a large, but light weight tripod.
