Alright so quick review on these Russel Civic DX (non abs) Stainless Steel Brake Lines.

Before the lines ,the car would brake and function fine overall, all of the components where the OEM and original to the car (minus pads and rear shoes). If driven around town and hit some stop and go traffic, the brakes would feel present.

If driven a little more enthusiastically (I.e backroads and the autox) brakes would feel delayed and spongy over time, even with the upgraded brake fluid and pads, it would feel as if there was some fatigue.

Verdict of Stock OEM EJ6 brake department: average to good performance, NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SPIRITED DRIVING.

after installing the Lines: first thing I should say is that these lines are elegant looking, they have a good coating of protections on the lines and the material feels of super high quality. The front lines were straightforward and even brought a rugged mount bracket to piece onto the spindle so the line doesn’t wander about or get hit. The rear lines were tricky and since the OEM components were of 20 years on use, everything just looked like it was time to be changed, I do highly recommend removing the hardline that connects to the brake cylinder for better accommodation of line to cylinder.
I used Honda’s DOT3 fluid for a flush and bleed, nothing extra.

How does it feel to drive? Different...like if the brakes were inviting you to use them, doesn’t feel like it has more strength (stock akibono calipers on Hawk pads go figure) but it does have more emphasis on volume. Driving home felt good and didn’t need much of the pedal to bring the car to a driveable speed in traffic. Before that i drove the car in the back road near my job that is linked to some small twisters and gave it some more go, the brakes were used a little more vigorous and the pedal feel did not fade or fatigue.

Overall: great feel on brakes now, can actually be comfortable tossing this car on about. 10/10 would definitely recommend to other 6th gen Civic DX owners.Read full review...
