BUDDY

"Buddy" is an endearing movie about a woman and the animals she rehabilitates- especially Buddy,
a gorilla. It is based on a true story and is filmed realistically with the use of Jim Henson puppets and live animals. "Buddy" not only traces the life of the gorilla , but the challenges in the life of his rescuer, Gertrude Lintz , as she struggles to enhance the lives of animals and transform the life of one gorilla. This movie has some beautiful human/animal interactions. Some "scary" moments when Buddy the gorilla becomes violent - perhaps not for young children.
As a wildlife rehablitator myself, I enjoy this movie for it's factual and entertainment value.
It is one of the few movies I have chosen to add to my DVD collection.Read full review...

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

THIS was most likely written about ME! lol, I am Dr. Doolittle, and I have taken care of thousands of animals. INCLUDING the hollar she does, I think they got that from me too! but I also used to have a yahoo group called Animal Actors for hire showcase. I think the author was in my group. Buddy DVD New

I saw this movie on a bus trip and thought my 1 year old grand daughter would have fun watching it. I looked in so many places and being an older DVD didn't want to pay the price most were asking for but the biggest problem was even finding the DVD. So I am very happy to have found it. I haven't watched it yet as I plan on seeing my grand daughter in a few weeks, and then her and I will watch it together, but it is a new DVD, so I am pleased.

A Great Movie for Parents and Kids!

Based on a true story, this movie chronicles the tale of a doctor's wife in Brooklyn who raises chimps and a baby Gorilla as members of her family in the 1930's...Beautifully done and charming, it nonetheless makes the point that animals need to have their own environment. Really cute movie, until "Buddy" has to leave(big tear)! I bought this movie for my Mother because she had seen it on late night tv. Got a great deal! Can't beat e-bay prices!!!
