great looking hoods

This is a great pair of brake hoods. They did not fit my specific type of levers but after a small modification it all worked out just fine. the lever opening on these hoods was not low enough for the swing of the lever so that when the lever was pressed down it would hit the hood and begin to stretch and squish it. If I were to leave it as is it would eventually begin to tear; so i simply cut the opening deeper to allow the lever to pivot freely and that was the needed solution to the problem. This modification was very discreet and it's almost impossible to tell the difference. The color of the hoods fit very nicely with the brown leather wrap that I was using so the overall look was great. Finally, the price on these hoods was right. good product for the price, just beware of the style of levers.Read full review...

Very hard to install w/o damage

Would be great if not nearly impossible to install. Had one hood on, but second one tore. Had to buy another pair. Once lubricated with a water-soluble gel and worked tediously with non-metal tools, had success. Original diacompe hoods were more elastic gum rubber and far easier to install.

Good if it fits

Suitable OEM or reproduction hoods don't exist for many vintage brake levers. Consequently, people try whatever they can get their hands on. If these hoods for, they are fine. They fit vintage Dia-Compe and Weinmann levers. They were a bad fit for early Dura-Ace levers. YMMV.Read full review...

Great replacement for vintage brake levers

Great replacement hoods when your 40 year old ones have disintegrated. These look the part and can be used on a range of levers beyond what's listed by just getting a little creative and trimming here and there. Doesn't take much to fit some Modolo levers and for 1/8th of the cost... I've used them on a few different style levers and will buy them again.Read full review...

Excellent Fit!

Fit the brake levers very nicely. Seem like a good product, although I don't know how long they will last. If made in China, probably not very long! Crush XI and his commie regime, Trump 2020!

Cane Creek Hoods

These apparently are made to fit Dia-Compe or some other lever. Not a class-A fit on Campagnolo or Modolos, but they work. Not the dee-luxe gum rubber of old, either, but they seem very tough and solid, with a nice thickness to them. "Utilitarian" in the best sense, not expensive "NOS" show-off (nothing wrong with that!) parts.
Price is right, and they come in a sealed foil package, so they are "fresh" when you get them, unopened.
Good stuff from Cane Creek.
