Great camera, especially for the price!

Excellent camera. Very compact form factor. It is a Canon so of course the lens and sensor is excellent along with best in class build quality. I have been using it for video and the image is professional grade, and the stills are beyond amazing. The UI is highly intuitive with a button for every major function (aperture, ISO, shutter speed, etc...). The articulating display is a welcome feature of this camera, allowing for easy focus and framing. The focus assist is very excellent, having saved me many times. Highly recommend to anyone starting out.Read full review...

All the bells and whistles in compact form but very toy-like. Not good for large hands.

As an owner of 3 other Canon EOS DSLRs, I was excited about adding this supposedly compact version containing all the latest Canon upgrades. Afterall, it was listed by all the camera mags as one of the top 5 DSLRs of the year. However, upon delivery and comparison to my Canon T3, T6, and 70D, this camera contained the goodies in a very cheap feeling, lightweight, plastic body. Granted, it is made for beginners but it still has the latest Digic processing system 7, their hottest CMOS dual pixel focusing feature which is great for well-focused videos and shooting pics off the LCD screen vs through the viewfinder., an articulating high pixed LCD, etc. However, in shooting with it, it didn't have that "solid" shutter click that all my older, less featured Canons have. In addition, it was TOO compact for my large hands, thus the toy-like feeling. I did a test comparison of a scene and shot it was all 3 DSLRS, the SL2 showed no improvement or difference in results, plus it didn't fit my hand well, so I sent it back. To get the "old" Canon quality, I suggest sticking with the dual pixel 70D, or it's latest upgrade, the 80D which is a great camera with a professional feel.Read full review...

Excellent camera - super light

This is an all around great little camera that has all of the features of the T7i at a lighter and smaller footprint. Good battery life, takes all of the EF-S lenses, has a microphone input along with an articulated screen.

The only con for me is the focus points, The T7i has 42 and this has 9. That's fine with me because I always use the viewfinder and usually center the subject.

To be totally honest, I sold my T7i because of it's weight and size. This camera along with the 18-135mm IS STM lens is my winning combination for a light and portable setup.

Canon SL2 -- Still A Diamond

The Camera stats and its performance within its price-point make it a super value! Even given it's age, it parallels and even outperforms some newer cameras with updated tech (IMHO). I honestly don't believe enough people knew about or still know about the power of the SL2. Canon's incredibly friendly user-interface still leads the pack. I will eventually buy another one to future-proof me from $2k - $4K cameras just to have the latest tech! I want to spend my time taking photos & learning to do it better...the SL2 has more than enough tech to continuously challenge my learning curve while allowing me to enjoy the art. Enuff said. Great DSLR for newbies

This camera is smaller than you would anticipate. The size is smaller than the T7i or T6i cameras slightly but feels much smaller when you hold it in comparison to the others. The picture quality and focusing is as good at the bigger cameras. The guided tutorial mode is very clear and easy to follow you can turn that feature off when you master things. This is a perfect camera for traveling and vloging due to the great video quality, tilt screen, and small factor.Read full review...

Great for beginners

Wonderful lightweight camera to use for everyday and entry level photos. Be mindful how small it is as certain accessories (hand straps) will not fit as well as full sized DSLRs. I don't like some of the button layout for Menu, info, iso,&display but you get used to it. It is slightly more quiet thank most so you won't get annoyed by constant shutter sound when doing burst mode. The 9 focal points does lack for great AF but can be made up with using the touch screen and shutter together.

Minor issue I have is the switch for on/off/video. It sometimes hard to tell what position it is quickly. Recently, I've had an issue with the display where I would press the display button but the screen wont turn on. I have to switch modes and press it again to make it work. The sensor may be a little off because I added a 128 GB sd card and it reads a different number of spaces left in the sd.

The screen itself shakes a tiny bit when pressure is applied but normal (so don't worry about it). the Creative Auto mode is my go-to since I'm still learning, but it's not a versatile as the 5d/6d/7d (sunset, shady, cool, warm, daylight, etc). The video mode will take some time to learn as even in video mode, what you have on the main dial will also change the way the video is shot, so keep a sharp eye out when that happens.

Great Camera all around! I highly recommend this to others!

The Canon SL2 as of right now is considered the smallest DSLR cameras out on the market. It is easy to learn all the functions as it gives simple yet detailed instructions on how to use the camera. The (UI) User Interface is easy to use and easy to navigate around. It is light weight. Perfect for studio pictures or for filming. Great value for what it does. I highly recommend this camera to others!Read full review...

Compact with excellent features

Better in many ways than the 100D, has Dual Pixel AF making it a really good video camera, almost competing with the M50. Really great value for the money.

Unbeatable Price and Quality; Won't Shop Anywhere Else

Can't thank this company enough. Camera was brand new and came with so much stuff; it felt like an early Christmas with how much I got. Such a good deal for everything included (If you calculate the retail price of all this stuff it's well over 1000 dollars.) I almost cried from how good of a deal this was. I will definitely be buying from this company again and recommending them to everyone I know!Read full review...

Awesome camera

Truly love this camera. The kit lens is excellent, the touch screen is very responsive and can be seen in the brightest of light if set it to it's brightest setting. And it is articulating. Canon has opted for a new GUI and it's real intuitive. I primarily frame my shots with the LCD to take advantage of the DPAF. It's a superb AF system. But it is nice to have the option of a optical viewfinder. The camera is small and compact. I've had a couple of mirrorless cameras and this camera is not much bigger than one of those. Great Canon build quality. One of the things I really like are that the mode dial, main dial, and power switch are made of metal. I purchased from RedTag cameras for a very good price. It came down to this camera and the Canon M100 and I decided on the SL2 because I had an EF-S 55-250mm lens already. I'm very satisfied with my decision. You can't go wrong the Canon SL2.Read full review...
