Canon i960 Photo Printer

I investigated every photo printer available in my price range.

Canon's software makes it very simple to to produce top-notch photo and text reproduction directly from my Macintosh or from USB photo devices including digical cameras, which can be linked directly to the Canon i960 printer.

Canon's individually replaceable ink cartridges produce excellent photo and text reproduction at the lowest per-page net cost.

The product was in immaculate condition and had been well cared for.

Exceptionally courteous and helpful seller.

Best bang for the buck.

Highly recommended.

Note: I exclusively use Apple Macintosh computers, Canon photographic equipment and Canon printers. Each represents the highest quality for the most reasonable net cost.

I960 Canon Inkjet Photo Printer

The I960 has been proven to be the best, fastest (I use USB II) and most trouble free printer on the market. It even exceeds later models from Canon. I use four printers at the same time. Having the same ink (6 Colors) inventory is the only way to go when production is required like my business, predominately color photos. My average yearly production is around 3,000 color prints and 1000 B&W's. This purchase decision was weighed against all other printers and has proved to be my best choice.
Most important is the quality of the finished product. The I960 has fulfilled my requirements better than other product brands that I have tried. Two units that I wore out with full used-ink trays, I went to Ebay for my replacement. It proved less expensive than the repair cost. I was able to salvage my old print heads for future backups, just in case I needed one. What will I do when my supplies of I960's runs out? I'll just start over to find the best produce with ink operating cost that I can work with.
Because of my high production, I would like for a future printer with a constant ink flow, so I could make bulk ink purchases. This would greatly increase my margin of profit in production time saved as well as lower ink costs. Maybe I'm just dreaming!
I realize that most consumers do not use a printer as I do. I have to remain portable with my instruments; cameras, computers and printers as I move from place to place. Canon has been my choice on many products and the I960 is just one of them.
Thanks for letting me share some of my thoughts.

Just love Canon printers, particularly the i-series

Up until very recently, Canon's printers all used individual cartridges for each color and black. This one is from that era, and has 6 cartridges - Magenta,Photo Magenta,Cyan, Photo Cyan, Yellow, and Black. As an added bonus, if you're so inclined, these are of a design that makes them simple to refill at home.

I currently own this i960, an i860, and an i560. All of them are excellent printers that just keep going and going and going.

I specifically sought out another i-series printer because I have been so consistently pleased with the print quality and the ink system, which is much more economical (and sensible, you replace only what needs replacing) than most other printers. How often do you end up replacing a tri-color cartridge because one color (most often yellow) is out but the other two are fine?

This printer is an excellent photo printer, and if you need one at home you can't go wrong with this one.

The Perfect Label Printer

This is one of the greatest printers I've ever used. I've worn out about 12 so far. My first I960 printed over 7,000 sheets of address labels plus maybe 3,000 sheets of regular letters/orders.

Once I found the reasonable ink jet cartridges on EBAY for about 15% of what Canon wanted it was even better. It takes 6 individual cartridges. But you don't dispose of them until they are totally empty. So you don't waste any ink like most printers do.

If there is a problem it's that at about 5,000 sheets the printhead has to be replaced. But that's no great problem.

Printing pictures is crisp and sharp. I finally had to get rid of mine when the ink overflow tank got full and the service center said it would be wiser to replace it rather than fix it. But I bought another one on EBAY that same day.

GREAT PRINTER.............................

One of the best printers even in 2009

This printer is an "obsolete" model that you will no longer find today. Which is a shame because today's models do not compare, unless you spend $0.5k or so.
This is a six color printer, and gives truer photo colors than the four-color Pixmas. It also has higher resolution print head (that alone would not be a big deal; I printed on i4600 and print quality is indistinguishable - it is the colors that are). The colors on 4-color Canons are more saturated: purples are bold, skin colors are bright unlike the real colors. If put side by side those from the i960 look more natural. If there is nothing to compare with, the Pixma is great.Read full review...

There's nothing like getting what you want.

With all the new controls about ink refils and printing the I960 has just about everything you could want in a printer. It can be refilled easier than any printer I have ever seen and doesn't scold you for doing it. Also, the print quaiitiy is so good that nothing new comes close. Finding it on ebay and getting it so quickly makes it even better. I actually bought 2 and already had one so that I would have parts and backup. PhilRead full review...

Canon i960 Printer

I had another exact model that stood up to heavy use for 5 years. The old one is still good for general printing, photo colors are now a little off. I originally bought it because of the ink. The colors are in individual cartriages that can be bought on Ebay for as little as $1 a piece, but usually $2 a piece. I get to use all of the color in a cartriage.Read full review...

Canon I960 Inkjet Photo Printer

I originally owned this printer and I love it. The photo quality is fantastic and it was an affordable priced unit. The printer is now obsolite and cannot be purchased at any stores so finding it on Ebay was just perfect for me. I was lucky to find it and to get a nice condition, good working unit. I hope it will continue to last for as long as possible since it has been one of the best printers I have found for the money.Read full review...

Canon i960 photo printer

Over the past 3 years I have used a canon i960 printer for all my digital photos. I take photos as a hobby and all my photos printed on the canon i960 have had a professional look. My printer has a lot of use and I wanted to purchase another canon i960 as a backup. I understand they are no longer available from most stores. I still bid on i960 printers if the price is right. Some I can use for parts, others are in great working condition. For my use, I feel this is the perfect printer for me. Thanks canon for such a great product.Read full review...

Canon I960

I felt fortunate to find this model of printer on Ebay. I had owned a Canon I960 before and used it hundreds and hundreds of times. It is my favorite brand and comes with very user friendly software including many options for printing. It works well with all types of paper including cardstock. The special 4 x 6 photo feeder is wonderful. Never a bad photo. I rate this model far above the Lexmark, Epson and HP Photosmart C5180 I have owned.Read full review...
