MUST HAVE CD-ROM for setup.

The Canon Pixma2600 is a hard working printer. I have had this model for six years and have gone through twenty-three ink cartridges. The printer does use a lot of ink, but print quality is excellent. Began having trouble with black ink printing. Bought a used one and the same problem. Found that I had to uninstall the printer and all attached software and then reinstall from the original CD-ROM. Fixed the problem for both printers. Always buy a used one with the CD-ROM or else they will not work.Read full review...

Small, fast, easy to use.

It's a little temperatural - takes a long time for it to make up it's mind to print and I have keep at it till it prints. I generally like this model, and this is my second one. However, it doesn't seem to work as well as my first one so I'm not sure what's going on with this printer. Next time, I'll buy a new one, not an used one.Read full review...

Good Second Printer

I just wanted a second printer so that I could swap between two printers and not have to change between labels and paper. This printer is an excellent second printer. Although I was not going to use this as a photo printer, I found that it prints excellent pictures and prints them very fast. It does exactly what I need it to do. If you do not need a printer that faxes/copies/scans, this is an excellent printer. Things to consider: It only uses USB connection, paper is top loading, ink is reasonably priced (have not used long enough to see how long the ink lasts), easy to set up. Although this would not be my first choice for a printer, I like this printer and it serves the purpose I purchased it for. I have only used regular paper and photo paper. I have not used label paper in this printer.Read full review...

good deal

The cannon was purchased to replace my failing lexmark 660 laserjet printer.
For a used printer it work like new,had to replace ink cartages shortly after recieving the printer ,but i was for warned in advance of the low ink condition.
this printer is quieter and faster then my lexmark ever was,it starts to print with a startling bang ,that takes you by surprise, but you get use to it!
it prints very clear documents and envelopes, also prints very shape and clear photos.
i m very pleased with my purchase of my Connon PIXMa IP2600 Photo Inkjet Printer

Cheap & Reliable

Bought this to replace an old Canon PIXMA IP1600, they use the same ink cartridges and I was having problems constantly with the IP1600. Upon arrival of the 'new' printer, it seemed to work ok, but then I ran into the same problem of an error every time I attempted to print.

Turned out to be a software issue that took quite a while to rectify. After working that out, this printer has been working just fine. I use it on a network with five windows xp systems and one windows 7 system.

I thought this would be an upgrade to the PIXMA IP1600, but it really feels like the same printer rehoused in a better looking black plastic case. It seems to take a while for the job to actually begin printing, but it's no big deal. I haven't run into any problems after resolving the lingering driver issue from the previous printer.

Great little printer.

I had this same model printer for years before it needed to be replaced. Since I had this printer already set-up on my computer I was so excited to find another one sealed in a brand new box. All I had to do is unplug the old one & plug in the new one. I just need a simple printer & this one is the best!Read full review...

There are b etter options to spend you hard-earn dollars on

CHEAP-CHEAP-CHEAP You get what you pay for! I generally liked the features of this printer, and being a very light user, it should have filled my needs nicely. Speed is really slow, but again for the little I use a printer, that was fine and to be expected for an inexpensive model. After it clicked, popped, whirred and sounded like a thrashing machine for a VERY long warmup time, it would produce a nice quality print or picture. It put out some horrible grinding sounds that seamed like they would never end, like my friend trying to teach his daughter to drive a stick shift car. It finally put itself out of its own misery tonight, and after hating it for a couple of years, I threw it with enthusiasm in the trash can. For years I had always thought of Canon products as being very functional, well designed, and well made, but no more. This was my forth and last Canon product, and every one has crapped out long before its time: a video camera, two digital cameras, and this printer. Then again, for the cost of this printer at Walmart vs. the cost of ink cartridges, you could buy a new printer for less than the cost of cartridges and put your ear muffs on when you use it.Read full review...

Great as a printer, but consider a 3-in-1 if you want to scan/copy.

I have owned the Canon PIXMA IP2600 for several years and found it to be of good quality. I recently acquired an Epson 3-in-1 to be able to scan and copy (also prints). I continue to use the PIXMA, primarily for black and white, as it holds more paper and the ink cost is less. A few months ago my laptop became damaged and had to be replaced. I could not find my Canon installation disk or documentation, and in searching for a replacement disk found an ad for a refurbished IP2600 with the disk and extra ink. Since the cost was comparable to ink price alone, I placed an order. Before receiving the unit I tried plugging my old printer into the new laptop and discovered that my computer recognized the printer and self-installed without the disk. So I now have a back-up which I have not at this point unboxed.
I recommend the Canon if you want only the print function, but if you want the multiple functions, the current prices of those units make them a very attractive option. I found my 3-in-1 at half price and it is like a computer of its own.

Great printer for the price.

This is my 2nd Canon of the same type. I enjoy how it works. The ink cartridges are reasonable and last quite a while.

Best value

Best printer I've ever had. It's a one purpose printer that does its job better than well. Canon screwed up "improving" it with bells and whistles.
If you want printed envelopes and text that's sharp and clean, this is your printer. But don't buy it because it's out of print and I may want to buy another. *kidding*Read full review...

Superb Photo-quality Printer

Remarkably good printing quality in a reasonably-priced product. Replacement ink is readily available in OEM, both standard capacity PG-30/CL-31, and more volumnous 40/41 series. While the OEM may be a bit pricey, Remanufactured units work well, and are considerably less expensive. The only downside is that the Remans will not display ink levels. Another caveat is the inherent ink overflow 'kill switch' built-in by Canon that eventually halts printing functions with an error message claiming that the collector is full-whether it is or is not. There is an override that can be performed to reset that counter, but most casual users may find it too complicated to perform. Finally, the Canon quality and versatility trumps any sneaky or quirky flaws one may encounter with this great printer.Read full review...
