Lightweight with alot of features

The camera is great for the price does well in auto, a little harder to use for me but learning it The sd card that came with it was filled after only 4 pics and I bought a new card and was unable to format it with the camera but used another card from old camera and was able to format it and now able to take more than 4 pics. The camera overall is good and just what I needed Lightweight and easy to take with on hikes, worth the price. Read full review...

I was not happy

I wish I could tell more the camera itself seems very easy to use , easy to transfer to the computer , did not do well for up close pics, they came out blurry. Unfortunately the one I purchased was used , the battery door did not close all the way flush and the low battery flashed no matter how many times I changed batteries. Day 1 I did take some pics ,the next time I went to use it the camera quit working . I am very unhappy. I bought mine used and very cheap , I feel like it would be a great camera if I bought new or like new condition Read full review...

Nice Camera

Wanted a small camera with optical viewfinder. This Canon has the features I wanted, good picture resolution, and uses standard AA batteries. Turning off the screen and using the optical viewfinder really saves on battery life.Read full review...

Decent picture but no real manual exposure control.

I use these specifically for CHDK experiments so YMMV.

The A560 is a small, but bulky point and shoot camera. Does not fit in the pocket well, if at all, depending on the modernity of your pants. It takes decent pictures, like most other earlier powershots. Expect ruddy colors and a bit of noise like any good point and shoot camera of any age. Uses AA NiMH or alkaline batteries and has an external power inlet on the side, which is magnificent. Like most of these cameras, zooming wide produces a sharper image, and the A560 seems to control color noise better than the earlier models. The A560 is the first of this series with a decently large display screen.

The odd part is that unlike the ancient A530, there is no manual or even aperture priority exposure control setting. Of course these extra settings would just be wasting time for casual shooting, but casual shooting is quickly moving to phones, and lacking the "M" setting makes the camera less useful when stacking exposures, timelapse or bracketing in CHDK.

Still useful, albeit not the perfect fit for many things.

Older technology that still works well.

I bought to make a book scanner. Takes better photos than I imagined. happy with it. Other than size and battery life it would be good for taking pictures or a kids first camera.

I do recommend power adapter wherever mobility isn't required.

I bought three of them and like them all.

I wanted this camera again...

My first Cannon A560 was damaged from it being dropped several years ago. The newer Canon I bought four years ago was not as user friendly (to me, at least) and did not yield as sharp of images. When looking through my photo archives, it was evident that my former camera gave me better results with less complication.Read full review...

Disappointed

When the camera works, it takes great photos! However, the camera itself can barely hold a charge from the batteries and this was not listed in the description before I bought it. I opened a brand new box of batteries and put them in the camera and the camera started showing low battery almost immediately. After having the batteries in the camera for only two weeks (with only 3 uses) it only takes about 1 photo before shutting off because of the low battery. The cost of this camera was way too high considering the serious battery issues.Read full review...

Oldie but goodie - with a viewfinder!

This is almost vintage by now, but it is simply a great camera for the "point and shoot" crowd, which is really most of us. It fits in a pocket, but it's not so small that you think you're trying to take pictures with a potato chip. It has enough manual settings to let you control what you do, and its automatic mode makes everything easy. It takes regular or rechargeable AA batteries and, better yet, it doesn't eat them up. I bought this one to replace one my son had doused with soda and left in the car for months instead of buying a new one because it was such a good camera. And it has a viewfinder! Using the screen to take pictures may be easier for some folks but nothing drains power faster. When you want to review pics, you can switch to the screen for a few seconds and then turn it off. I love it.Read full review...

Lightweight with great features and one drawback

This is a small camera that you can carry around with you in your purse. It
has numerous features which I haven't used as yet. The disturbing aspect of
this camera is that the battery light began to blink as low battery only 20 pictures
after I first started shooting. There are fixes on Youtube, and the toothpick trick
has so far done the job. This was a used camera.

I really like this camera... especially the viewfinder

My sister has this camera, and I have wanted one like it for a few years. It's easy to use and takes great pictures. The thing I like most about it is the fact that it has a viewfinder. I looked for a new point-and-shoot camera recently and noticed that nowadays, most digital cameras don't have viewfinders! Sometimes it's hard to see the image on the flat screen in the bright sunlight. With this camera, when you zoom in on the shot, the image in the viewfinder zooms, too.

When she bought her camera new a few years ago, it was not expensive. It ran in the neighborhood of $125. I've looked for a new one for a while now, and they run anywhere from $290 to $499! I decided to try eBay. I bid on a used one and got it for $31 plus shipping. It has a dent or two, but it works great and I'm very happy with the purchase.

I haven't used my new camera a whole lot yet, but based on my use of my sister's camera, I'm gonna love it!
