Could be a great wide camera, but that’s it.

The camera had great picture, but the zoom doesn’t work. You can zoom in, but it will automatically zoom out. So the 20x zoom will only be good for a couple of seconds. This is a great camera with what appears to be the same processor and sensor as the pro level cameras above it. One reason I purchased this model is because it has LANC connectivity, so that when I mount the camera on a studio tripod, I can control the zoom with a thumb control on the handle of the tripod. Great prosumer camcorder, if you don't need a camera with XLR inputs like the XA series models, this camera is for you. It is a fairly beefy camera but there is so much you can do with it. To get solid audio quality, it is best to use an external microphone. The 20X optical zoom shows when you use the focus ring. It is best to shoot video with a tripod and not a cheap one.
