CANON 5D

Best full frame camera for around 1k. Gets best results with cheaper lenses that your Mark II cannot achieve...due to higher resolution of 21 mps. Also achieves low light photography with much less noise.

The camera auto-focuses crisp and fast. LCD is not that great, but your images will surprise you when you look at them on your computer.

Coming from a DX Nikon however some minus are clunky, camera is not recognized as a storage drive, and LCD is not accurate to pictures this wonderful camera produces.

However that's the only things that stop me from giving it a 100% rating so I would only say around 98% excellence rating.

I love it because this product is good and easy to use, not too big size for traveling, not too heavy weight for my daughter to use in her school because she is eleven years old with little body, the product have excellent feature and full format picture with cheap price, it is suitable with my money capability.Read full review...

Excellent camera/Great price/Full Frame Picture Quality

This is my 2nd 5D and I admire it just as much as the 1st one. I also have a Rebel xTi and find that camera less user friendly but not near the picture quality (for various reasons) of the 5D. I like that I can manipulate the features using the main dial and the quick dial changing modes without hardly a thought. In comparison to the newer 5D cameras the price of this camera is a real steal.Read full review...

Beautiful camera. Well made and like a tank. Solid.

EOS 5D classic is such a great breaking full frame that really brings out the creative in your creative photography skills and really forces you to learn how to use a camera the proper way and it is definitely not a point and go camera. But worth it once you learn how to use it. Mind blowing images.Read full review...

Canon EOS 5D 12.8 and the big full frame step up

Well I was getting to the limits of my 40D and running into roadblocks. So I took the jump the a full frame. the reviews of this body when new gave greate reviews and so far they still hold true. Shooting in low or no light will produce good shots and the noise polution is wwell managed. When I first took it out I had made a series of shots I thought were several ISo steps lower but infact had bumped it to 3200. Despite this there was managable noise and with proper software that was greatly reduced. I'm pleased with what I can shoot with this body and diving my self time to adjust I might step to the MKII but for now there is no need for a while.Read full review...

Great full frame camera easy to use in manual mode.

Always wanted a full frame Digital SLR. After spending hours on YOUTUBE I selected the Cannon 5D.
The price was right and after downloading the manual from Cannon website I'm learning the features and am pleased with the results.Read full review...

Old, but clunky gold

The Original Canon 5D is a gem, even 12 years after it was first released. The 12 megapixel resolution is about the same as most phones use today, and is more than enough for small to medium prints, and definitely good enough for viewing on screens, as most of us do these days.

The colors from this old thing are quirky but amazing, and makes you think of the old analog days. So if you're after the old school look without using tons of VSCO-filters this one is a no-brainer. It's also an extremely affordable way to get into digital full frame photography. Pair it with the even cheaper 50mm 1.8 USM and you're good to go with a setup that costs about as much as a shitty compact camera, but will give you way better results.

Do bear in mind the camera body is a bit clunky, and the auto focus is only acceptable using the centre point. But these kinds of restrictions are what makes this camera even more fun to use in my opinion.

Go for it.

Great upgrade for beginners

I bought the 5D to upgrade from a Rebel T1i. I personally love how much heavier it is. I don't like having to use CF cards and EF only lenses. I already had a speedlite flash so no worries in that category. The screen (in addition to being smaller) has a sucky resolution compared to my rebel and has less extras (no movie selection I believe) but the customization is great (view your focus points) and I love how you have more choices in the ISO. I definitely recommend this camera to someone looking for an affordable upgrade.Read full review...

Semi Pro

This is one of my many cameras. I prefer to not purchase the latest and greatest as that lower's the "bottom line". This camera is great when the full frame is needed such as in large landscapes. It gives good quality details. The only fault is that if a picture needs are to be blown up significantly...the 12 mp will reduce image quality. It also only allows EF lenses of which require higher end $ lenses. So for a semi pro...it is great addition to other higher mp cameras and for amateurs who have the $ for the required lenses. If one is moving up from the Canon t models...which use the EFS lenses...need to be prepared for buying new lenses.Read full review...

I like it.

I come from a film background. And like to shoot manual. Don't have a lot of use for special programs. With an adapter I can shoot with FD lenses.
With this camera you have to like using the viewfinder because the LCD in the back isn't going to show you what you're shooting. The only problem with it would be that that metering in the view finder is hard to see in daylight.Read full review...
