Very bad LED display.

LED display on rear of camera is of extremely low quality. Even though this camera has a full frame image sensor, it is too outdated.

It is more worthwhile to pursue a more recent version of this camera or another camera all together. I returned this item not realizing that my current camera, a Canon 70 D, which has a crop sensor, produces better pictures.Read full review...

Superb camera, perfect for full-frame photography without too much $$$

So I bought the 5D as a reasonably priced upgrade to my Canon 40D, since I wasn't willing to bite the bullet on the 5D Mark II and pay 2x the price. I wanted the full-frame sensor and all the goodies that come with it (no crop factor, better ISO performance, etc) and get it all with this camera. While you don't get the stunning ISO performance that the Mark II offers, the 5D still performs beautifully in low light and I have found that the images come out with almost no noise that I would get with my 40D. I also appreciate the lower megapixel count, since I don't have to buy a bunch of hard drives to deal with 20MB photos! This is a terrific camera and Canon reliability means that used ones are a bargain.Read full review...

Better than the RED ONE

What a awesome camera, I have been in the film business since I was 3 months old and have seen alot of changes in Pro camera gear. The Canon 7D and 5D totally caught me by surprise, a DSLR with shooting qualities like the Red One, WHAT!!! I was not sure about it, but did tons of research and ended up buying one, I am totally impressed and so impressed that we have shot at least five national TV spots with it. I was a little nervous at first using it to shoot a big budget national TV spot, but folks, it is the end results that counts and it counted big time, the client was so happy with the quality they came back for a pick up commercial, another 40,000 in our pockets. The Canon 7D and 5D are highly recommended by BusyBoy Productions and is are first choice in cameras over the RED products. Check out some of the footage we shot at busyboyproductions.com. Thanks Canon and we cannot forget Ebay.

Excellent Value For The Money

I had to wait for the prices to come down before I could move over to a full frame camera and at this time a Canon 5D 12.8MP Full Frame Digital Camera is an excellent buy.I immediately noticed a difference in the quality of photos between a full frame and a crop sensor camera. High ISO performance reigned supreme on a full frame camera and photos taken in natural light also showed more detail and character using a full frame Canon Eos 5D. The crop sensor camera I used was Canon Eos Rebel XTi and it can still hold its own on photos expanded in the 20X30 range. Yet the overall quality of the photos which include detail and color rendition due to a full frame camera having a much larger sensor which allows more image to fit into one photograph. A full frame sensor will always perform with less noise at high ISOs over crop sensor cameras. The smaller sensor on a crop body camera will effect the depth of field due to its size, as a full frame sensor can accomplish a more shallow depth of field over a crop sensor counterpart. I absolutely love the photos I get using my Canon Eos 5D. I have the 35mm f2.0, both the Canon 50mm f1.8 & the Sigma 50mm f1.4, the Canon 85mm f1.8 and the Tokina 100mm F2.8. These lenses help me to get the shots I want each time and the people I photograph always compliment me on the photos I take. I humbly respond that it all happens due to the Canon Eos 5D and its ability to continue work as it was designed in the beginning.Read full review...

Canon 5d Best Value

Ten years ago this was considered one of the best full frame cameras out there. Although technology has past it by it still takes great quality pictures especially coupled with quality glass. It's about the best value full frame you can buy if you find a good copy. This camera is a great way to get your feet wet with a full frame.Read full review...

Great camera

I wanted to step up to a full frame camera but couldn't afford a new one. I went to Ebay to find a used one and saw the bidding wars were going high. I did an advanced search to find a buy it now that had just come on the market and found the one I bought at a reasonable price with no bidding war
.
It's been a great camera. Moving from a cropped sensor the first thing I noticed was that my lenses now show more information. I had to re-learn which lenses to learn. I also learned that I was not able to use all of my old Canon Rebel lenses because I had some that are designed just for the cropped sensor, so I had to buy a new macro lens.

The learning curve to this camera has been a challenge, but as I learn it I love that everything is pretty much at my finger tips. Once I know where the settings are, I don't have to dig through menus to change settings.
It's a well made and sturdy camera, I think that it's making me a better photographer because its not as automated as the Rebel that I used to have.
I just keep shooting a ton of pictures to learn more and more from it.

A great stills camera - even in 2017!

As a hobbyist photogapher, I was looking for a full frame camera to step up to, but didn't want to break the bank. The 5D Classic provides the classic full frame look, and the 12mp is still more than enough for my personal use. At the current price, there's no way you can beat this classic.Read full review...

Fullframe camera on a budget

When 5d was introduced, it cost was around $3000. A lot less then 1ds mkII, but still quite expensive. But now the price have fallen to around $1200 (for a used unit, of course), and it's less then current high-end cropped bodies. Sure, it can't shoot 7-8 fps, but 3 fps is more than enough for 90% of situations, and the buffer can hold up to 17 RAW images. I also found autofocus to be very fast and accurate.
High iso capabilities are also amazing (and as with all older canon cameras it's about 1/3 ev more sensitive than indicated, e.g. iso1600 is really iso2000), iso 1600 images can be pushed to iso 6400 (2 stops) and still look nice with some careful post-processing.
12 megapixel resolution is adequate for all purposes (unless you make very-very large prints), and require less processing power than huge 21-mp files of eos5d mkII.
In my opinion, the main cons is camera's vulnerability to dust (on the sensor and in the viewfinder chamber), which can be quiet difficult to remove. It also doesn't feature any kind of liveview system and movie mode, but i don't miss these features much.
In summary - excellent choice (if you can find used body in good condition).

Incredible camera. Pro full frame quality with slightly older features.

These are a steal right now if you're a serious enough photographer to want full frame, but cannot shell out a couple of grand for a modern body. It's image quality is all there, 12.7 mpxl is great by most standards, and if you're patient you won't mind working around some slightly older and less advanced technology (ISO, auto focus, LCD Screen, etc...).Read full review...
