A SERIOUS PURISTS CAMERA

Although today CANON and other camera companies are stressing their "one camera does it all" marketing ploy, there are still purists (digital) like myself out there that want a camera to just take "still pictures", and do it with a full frame sensor...and do it SUPERBLY.! THIS IS A PURISTS CAMERA..this is THE purists camera.! "We don't want no stinkin' video..!" When I want to (rarely) take video..I pick up my VIDEO camera. But, when I want to take serious pictures, this is the only camera for me. Sure, I wish I had more pixels..but 12.8 is fine for just about any professional.
When..and if..you find these cameras in good shape on eBAY, I recommend buying at least one for your arsenal. They are well worth the price ($900.00 to $1200.00) Their purpose will be current for a long..long time.!

Best full frame value out there!

I love the full frame sensor, perfect number of megapixels, and sharp high quality images that this camera produces. Probably the best value for a full frame professional DSLR out there. I would prefer to have greater ISO range, the 5D caps off at 1600 which is less than ideal, and now newer full frame cameras from nikon are providing incredible resolve at 3200 ISO and above. But, for the money, this camera meets all expectations for a professional DSLR.Read full review...

I Love It!

I have always used a cropped format Canon camera and I debated moving up to a full frame camera and I am very happy I did. There are dozens of reviews of this camera online so I will not bother. But my personal opinion is buy it. You will be amazed at the difference between cropped and full frame. I have owned the Drebles, 30D,40D ( which I still use and like very much.),60D ( Which I didn't like much, I don't shoot video.) But this 5D blows them away. You will need good glass, read "L" lenses to really appreciate this camera. But if you are serious about your photography you will love the results. At the price of good used 5Dc and now Mk 2s you can't go to wrong.Read full review...

Canon EOS 5D - first impression

Perfect reliable camera. Even without good experience, pictures taken with this device show the difference in comparison to crop sensor cameras. The only problem is to get a custom with its shape and control limbs/buttons that are a spread and not very comfortable for people with small hand. But this is only the question of time...Read full review...

Canon's Full Frame....Forgotten gem

The Canon 5D has a little age and doesn't have the pixel count of the Mk2, Mk3,Ds or the DSr. It doesn't have all the "Bells & Whistles" that the newer cameras have, but if you looking to shoot "Full Frame" and have a tight budget, this beast will surprise you. Great quality Canon product at a price you would pay for a Point & Shoot camera at the discount store. A true Canon workhorse that still shoots as good today as when introduced.Read full review...

great product and wonderful buy

To have a full frame camera at the prices for this camera now is great. Picture quality is excellent. The feature set is somewhat outdated, along with the LCD but fantastic buy and couldn't ask for any more. Feels solid and size is perfect as I have large hands.Read full review...

I got a great Canon 5D with a few scratches. Otherwise perfect. Great!

For the price, this is about as good as it gets. This allowed me to get a second camera to be able to have a backup, but also to have a second lens instantly available.

PS
I needed another 5D when the mirror fell of on my original one. Happily, I found out that you really can glue the mirror back on a 5D yourself with superglue.Read full review...

Hasselblad / Leica on a budget - exceptional filmlike rendition

Do NOT get this camera if you want a point and shoot experience. However, if you are an experienced photographer looking for a dream camera, THIS IS IT. Its rendition is very close to film. Are you sick of digital artifacts ruining the photo? Then this is for you! Do not worry about the 12MP, it is more than you need, because every pixel is a quality pixel. Each pixel in tonal continuity with the neighboring one. (Not the myriad pixels falling apart at the fine detail level that plagues the very high MP sensors.) The skin tones, colors are simply in a different league from anything affordable. If you want a top Leica or Hasselblad photo quality but cannot afford them, then this is the camera you will be happy with. Provided you are determined to evolve as a photographer. For landscapes, portraits - definitively not for sports or fast moving objects. Think of it as a fully manual film camera experience with a digital sensor.Read full review...
