Life changing

This book has helped me in all aspects of my life. It allows you to see things in a different light which allowed me to be more like the person I want to be and the person I was born to be. Dr. Wayne Dyer presents the Tao te Ching in a way that it speaks to anyone who will listen. I have read the book from cover to cover but now I just randomly open it to a verse, read it, and make an effort to apply it to my life. I recommend it for anyone who could use some guidance in their everyday life.Read full review...

Open your mind to new possibilities

I have read several of Wayne Dyer's books over the years. I have enjoyed all of them. This one peaked my interest because I was a Chinese language major in high school. When I read the description of the book I bought it along with a copy of the the Toa Teh Ching. Now that I am reading it I will be looking for other translations of it to add to my collection. The Toa Teh Ching is beautiful but it is nice to also be able to read what it can mean to us today in everyday life. Wayne Dyer has done an excellent job of that. Even those the Toa Teh Ching was written in China thousands of years ago Wayne Dyer has wonderfully brought those "truths" of wisdom to us today in a way that they are easily able to be applied to ones life here and now. And the greatest thing is that no matter what religion (or non religion) you are what Wayne Dyer has written about and still be put into practice without asking you to change your beliefs - instead to simply change your thinking about how you view and go about your day to day life. I have read the book and now I am going back and taking each of the 81 "truths" of wisdom one at time. Starting back at number 1 - I am reading them and then contemplating their meaning to me over a weeks time before moving on to the next one. Allowing it to sink in and become a part of my life, my being. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to truly change their life from a life of stressful selfcenteredness to one of peace and contentment.Read full review...

Worthwhile Read--BUT....

I love Dyer stuff and am a devotee of the TAO so this book was a logical choice. For the totally uninitiated, it was a good book. Certainly one which will offer many opportunities for thought and perhaps new approaches to everyday living. One of the best parts of the book is the daily "work" he suggests, helping to bring the concepts he offers to a more realistic level. What one must remember though, and he even addresses this, is that the TAO is only successful when one finds their own "way." So if you are looking for hard and fast rules and absolutes, this book won't do it for you. Then again, neither will the TAO. Can it change your life? Absolutely, if you will let it.Read full review...

Life is a comedy for those who THINK....

I am a fan of Wayne Dyer's writings, and that is why I bought the book. Having been trained in Cognitive Therapy and currently practicing as a cognitive therapist, I particularly liked this title. I live by the dictum that "life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think." In this book, Mr.Dyer takes apart the 87 sayings of the Tao and explains them in today's language. The basic theme that runs through the book is that we should die to the ego and live by the spirit, which is the eternal message of Tao and of all major religions for that matter. This book is not meant to be read in one sitting. It will be most beneficial if a single verse is read each day, and a few minutes are spend in reflection and then practice the "Do the Tao Now".

Absolute !

I first bought the audio book, but wanted the paper copy so I could take more time and read each verse and ponder. The audio book goes from verse to verse and you have to stop it and it can run too close together if you want to study each verse. I enjoy the hard copy book so I can go at my own pace and take each verse day by day. Althought, I do enjoy hearing the author's voice.

This is a must read, it is life changing and so simple. And as always, Wayne is so down to Earth and brings it to you in ways that anyone can understand. He's not complicated, allows anyone to enjoy and "receive".

Thank you Lao Tzu and Wayne!!!

Blessings

Change your thoughts, change your life. by wayne dyer

I am about a third of the way through this book, I bought three other copies for friends. If you are like me, hard on yourself, aggrivated, looking for peace in your life...READ THIS BOOK! I have been putting it into practice in my life..and I feel much better. It is a work in progress of course...having to change how you think when it has been a lot of years...but if you are looking for peace...if you want to feel better about life in general...deal with difficult people and situations better...this is the book for you. Some of the words are difficult. But even if you don't know the meaning, you get the jest of it by the way it is used in the sentence. That is the only draw back I see in the book so far.Read full review...

It is striking me more and more that what we think, even when we "talk to ourselves" is very important.

After misplacing the first copy, I had to have another copy of the book to finish reading it. Finding another one here on Ebay, was nice, as I can now finish the book, and keep it for reference.

Making decisions got easier

It was not long after reading Wayne Dyer's book "Change your thoughts, change your life" that I woke up early one morning fromn a bad dream. I am retired but in the dream I was back in the US patent office where I used to work and I had a patent case of immense importance and much disputed to decide. It was not the usual case where the decision is made by a Judge after long drawn out legal wrangling where the Judge gets to look at all the facts and agree with the patent examiner or to blame the examiner for making a poor decision. No I dont get paid for that. This was a case that due to politics the case gets passed back to the original examiner that issued the patent to reconsider the case in light of all the new evidence. To make the story short it was a very tormenting event in my dream but I end up make the decision after careful review of the evidence without the usual regard to outside influences or worry that I may be making the unpopular decision. I woke up to find that my wife had turned the TV on in the other room and was operating the microwave to warm some milk and muttering to herself about this and that. I asked why she was up and she said that my cell pnone beeped twice and woke her up. I said sorry that meant that I had messages on the phone about to expire. She said why didn't I erase them and I said because I never got them. I pick up my cell phone and listened to the messages. It was my wife from the last trip we made to our son-in-laws house to watch our granddaughter. First message "Ken I am taking out Isabel for a walk". ...3rd message "Ken, Isabel and I are still locked out and it is cold, where are you and why dont you answer your phone?". I erase them, gave her a hug and kissed her saying "Sorry, it was from the time that I stopped at the library after picking up groceries to check my e-mail and had turned off the phone. Sorry that I left the phone on. I love you. I will remember to turn off my phone at night from now on. I need some more rest so I am going back to bed." My wife got the message and turned down the TV.
I am hopeful that some day my wife will also read Wayne Dyer's well written book. There are 81 verses of the Tao written in clear English and after each verse several short pages on solving problems and acomplishing much with little effort based on an understanding of each verse. I bought the unadbridged book on CD also (8 discs) where Wayne does a good job of making the book flow by adding pauses and connecting phrases such as "and secondly". Both were well done and easy to grasp.

Soul Soothing Words HARDCOVER 2007

Dr. Dyer is a brilliant man and once again has outlined a peaceful path for us to follow. He has taken an ancient concept and brought it forth into the future for us to understand.
This book has come at a perfect time when most of us feel the stress of war and the conflicts in our own lives. Dr. Dyer teaches us about the Tao's way of leadership. Read the words and you will feel the flow of energy you have been seeking to make that change to your life.
When Dr. Dyer is on PBS doing one of his shows, I sit and listen to this soft spoken, but thought provoking man and it quiets my heart. My stress seems insignificant when his words rush over me to quiet my soul. He is a master speaker, and this book was far more than I ever expected. It lifts you to a level of confidence and sets a perspective for your life.
Thank you Dr. Dyer for providing us with a manual for living better. This book is a way to evaluate your beliefs and change your thoughts to suit your path in life. It is a balm in this world of turmoil and stress.
