Buy this before you buy your chickens (great price on e-Bay).

This is the book to buy if you are thinking of getting chickens. We purchased our four "girls" just over a month ago and this book has told us all we need to know. From the type of coop to get, feed to purchase, keeping your hens happy/healthy, keeping Mr Fox away and an insite into how they change your life.
