The City of the living dead blu ray review

City of the living dead is one of Italian horror film director Lucio Fulci's best horror films. The film has an eerie atmosphere throughout, some magnificent horror setpieces, surrounded by strange rotten, squishy, sound effects. The plot concerns itself with a priest(Father Thomas) who hangs himself for reasons unexplained, opens the Gates of Hell with this horrible action. A medium(Fulci fave Catriona MacColl) and a Cigar-chomping reporter(Christopher George) are the people who have to stop Father Thomas before he and his merry band of zombies bring the house down on All Saints day.
Blue Underground has released this Euro-Horror classic on Blu Ray and it looks fantastic! I mean I saw this film in the theater when it was released, and the blu disc looks better than that did. Colors are wonderful and night (dark) scenes are more readable than ever; best example is the cemetary rescue scene it still had me on the edge of my seat! The sound choices consist of orginal mono,Dolby Digital 5.1, or DTS 7.1 The Dolby Sound is strong, punched a hole into my innards. extras include the City cast reminising about Mr.Fulci, what kind of person he was and how it was to work with him. An interview with Giovanni Lombardo Radice is good he speaks about Fulci and how it was to work for him, and his other experiences with the cast and crew. Their is also a photo gallery with Movie Posters,Dvd and Vhs covers from all over the world. This is a great disc if you are a Fulci fan, or Euro horror fan. I enjoy the extra picture quality, and the beautiful sound. I also own New York Ripper, also by Lucio Fulci,on blu ray

City of the Dead is thumbs down.

Film is slow moving and monotonous kept waiting for something to happen that never did. Would not recommend. City of the Dead is not engaging.
