It's Texas Rangers vs. the Comanches

This is an extremely enraging mini-series which features a plethora of actors led by Val Kilmer who is, as usual, absolutely wonderful. The mini-series is 284 minutes long. It is spread over two dvd's. The series is matted to 1.85 widescreen and claims to be anamorphic. I viewed it through an HDMI cable and was no more than an average picture. Picture was NOT remastered. The stereo mix was below par. The story is historically quite accurate and is a prequel to the Lonesome Dove mini-series. All of the series' begs for a remastering and a release on Blu Ray. Until then, I highly recommend this DVD. Read full review...

Part two of the Lonesome Dove saga.

I was very glad to get the DVD of part two of the Lonesome Dove story. I can honestly say that it is just almost as good as the original. The actors played the characters spot on and it explained a lot about what and why things happened in the Lonesome Dove Mini series.Read full review...

Second best of the Lonesome Dove series

After the first Lonesome Dove, This is my favorite. The characters are portrayed in the style created by the first cast. Steve Zahn has Robert Duvall's Gus down to a fault and Karl Urban pulls off the taciturn Call in the image of Tommy Lee Jones. One of my favorite roles for Val Kilmer as well.Read full review...

prequel to Lonesome Dove saga. Gives lots of background info on Texas Rangers Call and McCrea.

Engaging story that gives lots of background information leading to Lonesome Dove saga. The main characters are true to Larry McMurtry's novel descriptions.

Great acting in the Lonesome Dove prequel.

Lonesome Dove fans will love this prequel to the 1980 TV mini-series. Characters are seamless between the two.

Comanche Moon

I really enjoyed the entire Lonesome Dove series, this 'prequel' gives us a look at the characters at a younger age, it fills in alot of history of each individual, we get to meet Blue Duck, find out why he is so angry, and My personal favorite, Buffalo Hump...Played by Native Actor, Wes Studi, who in Streets of Laredo played Famous Shoes. The cast was excellent, and alot of attention was paid to Comanche life, their history and their old ways...For the first time ever in a film, real eagle feathers were used, with permission from the Comanche people.

While in all movies, history is dramatized for creative effect, this I believe comes close to what they endured...again, as far as movies in the genre, I give it an A+++
