Listen with headphones! Beautiful voice and music!

Norah Jones, whether her album sales, critics or popularity are involved or not, has done something that few can do; she impressed me. Who am I? Nobody special, but it takes a lot to impress me these days where music is concerned.

I am not a fan of "pop" music; most of it is contrived, cliche and boring. This album was a huge success, won a grammy and sold millions, but lots of albums do that and don't sound too good to me.

Most music these days just sounds like everything else in it's genre and I don't care for much of it. This album broke the seams, blurred the edges and made it hard to classify. It's a jazzy, bluesy, (I think I read country but I don't know about that, although I agree that the guitar is influenced by early country artists), soul-filled expose of what a group of musicians can accomplish when they don't worry about what others are doing and just set out to make a good album.

The mix of songs is perfect and Norah's vocals are entrancing, they just suck you in.

I said "Listen with headphones" and here is why; the intricate musicianship on this album is amazing, the slight bend of a guitar string, the tap of a pedal, the back beat on a soft cymbal, all of this adds to the sultry, smooth sound that encapsulates this album.

I can't pick 1 or 2 good songs; the whole album is absolutely fantastic. An experiment in musical restraint, they use just enough of the instruments, the vocals, they never go overboard. I think that is the true treat in this album; the thunderous minimalism.

A great album and deserving of all the attention it has received.

Come Away With Me - Norah Jones (CD)

The best CD recorded this decade. Period.

Norah Jones soft, sensual, haunting, vocals touch the senses of the listener and truly make one want to 'Come Away' with her, drifting on clouds of memory and imagination to a time and place tucked secretly away in a corner of the heart, long past but neither lost nor forgotten.

Few singers have the capability to turn out a finer preformance than the original artist, yet on this CD Norah Jones not only does so with 'Cold Cold Heart' and 'The Nearness Of You,' she makes the listerner forget the original. Norah Jones truly 'owns' these songs.

If you buy but one CD in your lifetime, Norah Jones 'Come Away With Me' should be it. I suggest you purchase two as you will eventually wear out the first. Listening to it once and setting it aside is not an option.

Song number 7 is titled 'Turn Me On.' When you have drifted through your dreams with this CD 1000 times, play it again and you will find Norah Jones continues to 'turn you on.'

Soothing and Soulful

Norah Jones is one of my most favorite artists right now, and though this is her first mainstream release, it remains one of my favorite albums to date. The mix of songs are deep and meaningful, but jump from slow to moderate in pace. I love listening to this album while driving home - it instantly calms me down and relaxes me after a long day of work. A wonderful mix of blues and jazz, with a pop appeal. If you like Diana Krall, Michael Buble, or John Mayer, this is right up your alley. Great lyrics, fabulous voice, really gets you in the mood and drenches you in sweet wine! Jones is in a league of her own.

Everyone who bought this CD gave this 5 stars out of 5: http://www.buzzillions.com/prd-345349-norah-jones-come-away-with-me-reviews/

A modern classic...as good as it gets!

Words do not do her voice justice. This is one vocalist that is destined to be remembered among the greats. The album is technical perfection; well balanced in every way. The musicians backing up Norah are worthy as well. The awards and acclaim this recording received are well deserved. I can listen to this CD again and again. It puts me in a mood and transports me to a different time and place. The only surprise is that such a young woman in modern times could be this good with such an old school style. This is the perfect album to use to introduce people to jazz/blues female vocalists. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!Read full review...

Come Away with Me by Norah Jones

I love Norah Jones' voice and style of singing. It's unlike anyone or anything I've ever heard before. She's so natural yet she has a sultry, sexy, seductive sound to everything she puts her voice to. I first saw her on "Two Weeks Notice" where she is the entertainment towards the end of the movie. She's playing the piano and singing THAT FIRST SONG which I fell in love with "The Nearness of You". It was then and there I decided I had to have her CD's.Read full review...

WOW !!! This Lady Can Sing !!

My taste in music tends to lean toward the Blues. Give me some Son Seal, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Robert Johnson, Katie Webster to name a few and I'm a happy man. My wife was watching dancing with the stars, they had a guest singer on. Her voice captured my attention, I swear the hairs on my arms stood straight up!! The very next day I ordered 3 Norah Jones CD's. Come away with me, Not too Late and Feels Like Home. If Janis was pure estrogen strained through gravel then Norah is pure estrogen mixed with napalm. Sexy and sultry some of the best music I've listened to!Read full review...

What a Deal! What a Singer!!

Norah Jones is the freshest voice out there for adult alternative, jazz, R&B, ballads, you name it. The daughter of Ravi Shankar (if you lived, really lived in the '60s, you'll know who he is), her voice is as mellow as moonlight on the water. The title song, "Come Away With Me," is haunting, romantic and sexy. You'll find yourself humming it quickly. I have been looking for this CD for a while, but I didn't want to buy it from one of the Big Boxes because of the price and because I had only heard her sing occasionally. So, I decided to try out E-Bay. I got it for a song, if you'll pardon the pun! Thanks, JayandMarie!Read full review...

magical and lovely

I read a review that called Norah Jones' music "wallpaper." Okay, but it's really lovely magical wallpaper. Of her CDs thus far, this is the one to buy. In the last year it has gotten cheap enough that you can now get one for under $5 with shipping. I bought this for a friend, who really liked mine.Read full review...
