Crocodile Dundee (DVD, 2001)

This was one of a few movies that come from the land down under that aren't apocolyptic in nature. Mick Dundee (Paul Hogan), is a bush tracker and sometimes poacher and all-around likable sort of guy who, like so many others, has the knack of stretching an inch into a whole mile. He had an encounter while fishing (more like poaching) with a giant crocodile, which he finally killed, but was seriously injured and left to nature and his own whits to survive. Well, the story got embellished, and blown out of porportion until the news wires reported something totally different. Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) a Newsday reporter from New York City, travels to the Outback to meet Dundee and get the whole story. Off she goes to this tiny "armpit" of the olanet in the Northern Territory to find him and meet the famous Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee! She is completely swept off her feet when she meets "Mick". He takes her off to the place where the attack happened and tells her the story - give or take a lie or two. She is so taken by his grit and Aussie swager, that she feels giddy as a girl. She asks him to come back to America, and New York City, for a series of follow-up articles and TV shows. Other than local survival and Out Back living, Mick's life is a blank canvas, having never been anywhere or seen anything. New York is quite a shock, but not as big a shock as he is to New York!

Crocodile Dundee

Sue, a reporter from New York City, travels to Australia to write a feature on Michael J. Dundee, also known as Mick to his mates. Mick is a bush ranger who was known for being attacked by a crocodile and then killed the croc with his bare hands. The reporter insists on following Mick through his place of Walk About Creek and is attacked by a croc. Mick Dundee saves her and he returns to New York City with her as her guest. Mick, a backwoods jungle man, is exposed to the streets of New York City and comes across muggers, dealers, and hookers. His ways of dealing with these people and situations are very humorous. This movie is very entertaining and we found it funny as well as having a lot of action.
We saw this movie years ago when it was originally released, and now our 8 year old son is starting to enjoy movies such as National Treasure, Indiana Jones, Tranformers, and other funny, yet action packed movies. He really enjoyed this movie as well and I just purchased Crocodile Dundee II for him too. It is rated PG-13.Read full review...

Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee is an Australian crocodile hunter who lives in the Australian outback and runs a safari business with his trusted friend and mentor Walter Reilly. After surviving a crocodile attack, a New York journalist named Sue arrives to interview Mick about how he survived and learns more about the crocodile hunter. After saving Sue from a crocodile, Sue invites Mick to visit New York City, since Mick has never been to a city. Mick finds the culture and life in New York City a lot different than his home and he finds himself falling in love with Sue. This is a extremely entertaining and fun movie. But because of its likable charm and great sense of humor, it's definitely one to see and watch many, many times.Read full review...
