For the newbs out there

I broke my leg just over a year ago. needless to say, that translated into an insane amount of time in the house. While sitting around between classes online and watching TV, I discovered the sickest passion for cooking and decided to throw my hat into becoming a chef; not for business or anything, but simply to give myself, family and friends the best experience in palatable delight. I started buying things and found that the most important purchase is the Chef's knife by far. Almost all preparation is achieved through its usage. So having dated a chef, I was told which knives were the best and why, but I didn't quite like the fit of the Wusthof, Henkels, Victorinox, etc. The prices were crazy as hell too! I was talking to my sister and her favorite knife is a Cutco 1720 paring knife. I know it is because every time she cooks, I see her using it. So I talked to her eldest son, who is a chef, and he swore by his Cutco 1725 Chef knife. It kind of rang in my head, "Wait a minute, I used to sell those knives while in college... they really are good. Ohhhh, and they have the lifetime guarantee." So the warranty along with their testimonials had persuaded. I jump on the Cutco website and the prices are HIGHER than those other knives, so I was stomped. Do I spend this money? Then the FOREVER GUARANTEE hits me in the head again, so I decided I would buy it used first. See how I liked it and go from there. I can't tell you how happy I am. The balance, weight, precision and edge on this beautiful instrument is second-to-none. I have gone from resented making a salad, to cutting onions up, just to be practicing with my 1725. The handle is crafted in a way that allows it to fit in your hand and minimize fatigue when you're really getting it in chopping. The 440 surgical grade steel is something I trust and its an All-American product... F German steel! lol. Just remember to clean and dry your steel IMMEDIATELY after usage to preserve and protect the edge. I also have Messermeister edge guards on to protect my babies too! For the warranty alone, this purchase has to be up on the greatest buys ever list. But the 1725 is definitely a primo piece of steel! I mean, take my route, buy one for about $35-50 used, send it in to Cutco for $9 to be cleaned and sharpened and if its vintage and really raggedy looking, THEY FRIGGIN REPLACE IT FOR FREE!!! No receipt, no explanation, just go on the site and fill out the service form, ship it and 8 days later badaboombadabing... you got A plus steel!Read full review...

Nice set of knives!

Even though these were in used condition, they were still very usable. A little sharpening and a buff up and they were good to go !

Top of the line knife with a lifetime warranty :)

Super sharp and cuts great. The handle fits the hand great and allows good knife control. The blade is quite long even though some of the other adds called it a petite. All around good for chopping veges and thinly slicing meat if needed. Well worth the $ and will also purchase the 1735 vege knife later :)Read full review...

How did I live without this knife?

I absolutely love this knife! Cutco beats all the other brands, hands down! This is a balanced knife and the ergonomic handle helps with my arthritic hands. I would definitely recommend this chef knife for all purpose chopping!Read full review...

Cutco is the best.

I have a lot of knives and very few match this quality. When you get one sharpened by Cutco (like this one was) beware,,,they're razor sharp. I think this one's from the 70's and I doubt I'll need another in my lifetime. If I do it'll be the smaller version (1728) and then I'll be set. w/Cutco you can't go wrong.Read full review...

They're won my business with their sales pitch of quality facts

To make money in college I tried cutler sales with Cutco company. A very organized Ohio USA company since 1945 they really wer thorough and brief and made you buy a set for around 150.00. The cutlery is top notch and lasts without blemish, fade, cracking, and, in many cases even dulling. If they do dull they sharpen for free. They're purposed for a home chef and they have special D's and points to keep a sharp and cutting edge on the trimmers and steak knives. This big French Chef chopper knife is great for dicing veggies or carving a turkey. If we sleep, eat, work, and drive...then your money isn't wasted. They will last a lifetime and give you a good experience. Only thing...sometimes they get stolen. Read full review...

Great chef knife.

This knife was longer than I thought, I thought the entire knife was the size of just the blade. After using it, I do love it!
