Dewalt pros and cons

I like the fact this has two different heat options low and high. I also like it has a locking trigger so you can set the gun down and heat the object using both hands. What I dont like is the fan is not very powerful as far as blowing the hot air. It is no where near comparable to a Milwaukee heat gun when it comes to the fan blowing inside it. Only reason I rated it a 4 star other than that has more features than the Milwaukee.Read full review...

Looks good, till you turn it on.

I have been on the Dewalt 20 volt, platform. For several years.
All of the tools I have purchased, have been worth there weight, in gold. Until I bought the heat gun.
There were a lot of negative reviews, I figured it’s Dewalt. It has to be good quality?.
This is a tool that needs more power, or should be left, as a plug in.
I have a $10.00 heat gun, that puts it too shame.
It does not even get hot enough, to melt heat seal butt connectors, that I use by the hundreds.
Live and learn, I should have listened to the other reviews.

Can't beat the cordless convenience

I own several heat guns, and while this one is not as powerful as a standard corded heat gun, I use it mostly for heat shrink work and for that the grab-n-go convenience cannot be beat. The heat level on the high setting is sufficient and it works perfectly. A larger battery (5.0Ah or 6.0Ah) works best as the small 1.5Ah battery that I tried drained too quickly (only provided 3 min of runtime). The form factor of this gun is really nice as well as it looks and feels like a cordless drill. It can even be laid on it's back so that the nozzle points up (like most standard heat guns). Overall just another great tool from Dewalt.Read full review...

Nice light duty heat gun

Nice little heat gun for what it is. It's not as powerful as a plugged in unit but gets the job done with some patience. Dewalt is my go to brand for battery powered tools.

Disappointing fan output

Really a poor tool. Heats up fine but air just dribbles out. Needs a far more powerful fan. If you use a corded heat gun you will be disappointed with this. I really wanted to like it. Maybe DEWALT can get a better fan in the future. I sent it back.Read full review...

Small and handy.

This really runs the battery down quick. It gets hot quick but the fan is not very strong. Nothing compared to a good120 volt heat gun. I love it for quick and small heat shrink melting. Not good for large jobs but perfect for fast little work. Read full review...

Love this hot air gun

I’m only using it for heat shrink tubing. Saw one on a job site in New York and had to have one. I am using this in my business.

Over Black Friday I enter up with other Dewalt cordless tool deals so I got for Dewalt batteries. This does not come with a battery. Anyway, I’m happy with it.Read full review...

Good product for being cordless

It’s worth it in my opinion . It is as it was advertised. The heated air flow is not as powerful as chorded , but still worth the purchase . Not being tied to a chord has many advantages . Personal tip : the better battery you buy will effect the performance of the product. Buying to medium strength batteries is better then buying 1- hi powered because U can switch out and keep working vs waiting for recharge. Read full review...

Good for specific uses

A bit expensive for what it does. Not a GREAT heat gun. But perfect when you don’t have access to an outlet. Fine for heat shrink. Helps to heat up PEX to install fittings. Seems like it will be durable. I use with 5ah batteries. Lasts all day for off and on use, mainly heat shrinking connections in remote locations. Read full review...

It needs fan only mode too cool off before shutting off to help save on the heating element.

It is pretty warm for battery powered, make a better heater for cold days in the cab or passenger compartment, better than advertised battery operated car heaters...
