Used to replace similar Vip622 rather than learn latest model.

My Dish DVR Vip622 started acting up by needed to restart it every 10-15 minutes. I think the harddrive went out on it. I was pretty sure Dish Network would not have a similar DVR for me, just the Hopper style and I really did not want to learn a new completely new DVR (also I had previously purchased another Dish DVR Vip722 several years earlier and liked it and got used to it. I found this dealer still had some Dish DVR Vip722 units available at a decent price and so I bought it. I was shipped quickly and I was able to set it up and activate it with Dish the same day I received it. It is working great and it works exactly like my other Vip722.

One caveat was that I needed/wanted to access the local OTA (over the air) channels and needed to buy the compatible Dish OTA2 Module as this unit did not come with one (this was how Dish sent them out when they were new). It is installed in the Vip722 and working like a champ too, but I did purchase the OTA2 Module from a different eBay dealer at a somewhat reasonable price.

It's still a good choice

I had Dish-network a few years back and used a VIP 722 (non K) so I was familiar with the setup. The optional tuner was already installed in this model so it works just like my former model.

While it does not have the ability to record a bah-zillion different channels at once I find that having 2 is just fine.

It would be nice if the remote(s) were backlit but the layout lends itself to find the buttons by feel in a darkened room.

It won't break any speed records in it's input response time but it is satisfactory.

Playback Errors and OTA

Product functions as expected, except for playback of recordings. Some recordings had video and audio errors. As receiver usage progressed, the fluttering and skipping decreased. In the future if it remains error-free, I will have no apprehension about its usage.
I was disappointed about the absence of OTA reception capability. I had to buy an OTA module elsewhere. That should have been mentioned in the product's description.

Nice remanufactured receiver. Comes with new remotes and triplexer.

It is a remanufactured unit that works perfectly for HD video on Dish network satellite. The only problem was that Dish wouldn't authorize the DVR function for some reason that made no sense at all. But if your are replacing a VIP 722K that you already had on your account everything will probably work fine.Read full review...

Dish receiver

All satellite connections came with the unit. The connectors were clearly marked and easy to install. As soon as Dish service was started the unit worked as it should. I've been using it for a week and have noticed no glitches.Read full review...

excellent choice

Rather buying the Hopper I chose to replace my 622 with this 722, good choice not lease and no future obligation. With wi-fi being the future I want my options open. I love my roku also.

Great Receiver With Large Hard Drive

Our first 722K is leased from Dish and Dish would not allow us a second 722K unless we kept it active all the time. Due to going to Florida for 6 months this was not possible so we purchased a second receiver. It has a large hard drive, internet connectible and many other good features. Just wish both TV's could be HD instead of only one. We would highly recommend this receiver.Read full review...

Great receiver, much cheaper on eBay than from the company.

This is the 3rd 722K in our home. We've never had any trouble with any of them, great picture and easy to use. I do not have any experience with any other HD DVR receivers, but if it's not broken, why fix it?Read full review...

When you buy a product to make sure that it has everything you need.

I like that you can run two tvs. The problem was that I purchased it and found out that I needed a smart card which it didn't have one. I had to call dish and pay $50 for a replacement.
