Ben Affleck.... A Real Daredevil

Ben Affleck.... A Real Daredevil in the Comic Book Based Movie !!

Ben Affleck was born as Benjamin Géza Affleck-Boldt in Berkeley, California, to Tim Affleck, who was a social worker, and Chris Boldt, a school teacher.

At eight years of age, Affleck met ten-year-old Matt Damon who lived two blocks away in Cambridge. Affleck and Damon would later attend Cambridge Rindge and Latin School together, although they were in different year groups.

Ben came to national attention in 1997 when he and best friend Matt Damon wrote the screenplay for and starred in Good Will Hunting.

After other sucessful films, Affleck starred in Daredevil, a 2003 movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson, who also wrote the screenplay. The movie is based on the Marvel comics character, using predominantly the 'grim and gritty' stories written by Frank Miller.

As a sidenote, Ben subsequently dated his Daredevil co-star, actress Jennifer Garner who portrayed Elektra, and the two were engaged. In May 2005, it was announced that Garner was pregnant and the couple were married on June 29, 2005 in the Caribbean. Garner gave birth to a daughter, Violet Anne Affleck, on December 1, 2005.

I started with the Daredevil Comic Book when it first appeared in print, back in 1964, and stopped reading it in 1974... so I missed the change to the 'Grim and Gritty' aspect by Frank Miller and others in the 1980's.

The Daredevil Movie and the Elektra Movie that featured Jennifer without Ben, were both of a 'Grim and Gritty' Style,' but I still enjoyed both of them, mainly because of Jennifer!

This would be a good DVD to own if you were a Daredevil Fan or a Marvel Comics Movies Fan!

Daredevil-theatrer version

The theater version leaves out several scenes from the director's cut version, and throws in at least a couple of unnecessary scenes not in the directors cut. The director's cut, as a result, is much better than this version. However, the one thing I like about this two disc set is that it does have some special features not found in the single disc director's cut. For example behind the scenes features, music videos, trailers, and so forth. If they were to ever produce a director's cut with the second disc of special features then that set would have the best of both worlds.Read full review...

Daredevil

Daredevil the movie is certainly no match for the reigning comic-book-to-cinema champ Spiderman. In Daredevil, the young son of a prizefighter is blinded by a splash of hazardous waste. He awakens in the hospital—in the film’s best-realized and most horrific scene—to discover that his other four senses have become super-enhanced. His dad (David Keith) fails to throw a fight and is killed by mobsters. The traumatized lad then grows up to look exactly like Ben Affleck and becomes a blind prosecuting attorney by day and a vigilante clad in a tight, leather suit by night. The film is impressively dark and gritty, but the melodrama and Daredevil’s relationship with woman warrior Elektra (Alias’ Jennifer Garner) are labored, and our superhero’s powers (he can see the world via sound waves) seem arbitrarily applied in some scenes and questionably ignored in others.Read full review...

Daredevil

While I must admit that I was predisposed to dislike this movie due to its' being poorly reviewed by the "professionals", I purchased it because I am a big fan of the comic turned movie genre. I found the story to be a little stale, but I greatly enjoyed the film nonetheless. The action was good, the interplay between Afleck and Garner was good, and the graphics well done. Besides, how bad can any movie with Jennifer Garner in latex and leather be????
I am glad that I bought it and reccomend its' purchase. Steave

Daredevil

I thought it was smart, well written, well directed, and struck just the right tone for the material. Ben Affleck manages to make you believe in Matt Murdock, Jennifer Garner is both effective and stunning as Elektra. The movie focuses on the lead character and pushes almost everything else to the background. It's a great movie.Read full review...

Grab the popcorn

Ok a blind guy leaps off building and swings from lamp posts while fighting crime. But them he commits crime, so is he good or bad? He has scars then no scars. He can't defend his girlfriend and then he he scampers up walls and fights the bad guys. The movie seems out of balance it's easy to get lost. So turn it on, do some laundry and you'll not miss a thing. I really wanted a cameo by Regis....would have been great.Read full review...
