Dark shadows- early television like you have never seen before !

This is a story of Collinwood in the state of Maine. It was a soap opera that started in 1966. Only this soap opera is about the hauntings, witches, vampires, and even a werewolf in the Collins family. As a kid , I would race home from school to watch it. I was fascinated with such a show that would appeal to many different ages. As i grew a little older I began to miss episodes with other activities. Recently my interest came back to Dark Shadows. So, I bought this set. Which contains every episode. 1245 in all. Contained in 131 dvd discs. Created by Dan Curtis. Who brought us other shows such as Kolchak the night stalker. So, I would recommend this set from the early days of television. Unlike any television show you'll likely to see again. The characters are interesting and ever changing as the story unfolds. The central character is Barnabas Collins. A vampire. Played by Johnathan Frid. A fan favorite. So, if this has peaked your interest. Check it out. I doubt you will be disappointed. A spooky show best watched after dark.

I've never purchased such a massive collection of DVD's for one TV series (128) with over 1200 episodes. The show aired 5 days a week for 5 years. It comes with a program guide listing every episode and the special features included. I haven't watched the show for 50 years so I'm just remembering the various characters but I remember being glued to the TV when I came home from school watching the episodes on ABC. Vampires, Witches, Ghosts and Werewolves Meets Back to the Seventies

Please be aware that I sold my previous set to get this collectors edition....the condition of the packaging is so much better. I grew up with this series and feel as thou I have a piece of my childhood back...please under stand that the special effects in this will not be as the are today...the technology then just did not allow.it. This will give you the better story line than the Johnny Depp movie...I did enjoy the movie...though this story was not supposed to be a comedy...and I would have preferred that it had kept the goth/horror genre. You have to see it to understand the differences....It is very long and should give you months if not years of entertainment. Make sure to give it time to get to when Barnabus shows up cause that is when the show really starts to pick up. I would advise you to shop this thriftily though and avoid bootleg copies..one of which I stumbled into...the quality was garbage. If you are a fan of vampires, ghosts witches, etc...this is one of the American series that started it all with the exception of Twilight Zone or Outer limits. Better than expected, considering that the set I bought is a knockoff and not an original set produced by MPI. This was known before purchase, but the price is so much lower than an original set, if you can find one. Only concern/issues is that the fact it is counterfeit and it is purported to be from MPI and as other viewers have noted, the coffin is poor quality and the corners often tear, even before you receive it.Read full review...
