Too short a series...finally got into it & the characters & it's over.

Took the first two seasons or 2/3 of the way through before I finally got caught up in this one. But then all too soon it comes to an end. So why didn't this series get a few more good seasons in? Always seems the interesting or good ones get pulled. Buy the way leave your puritanical roots outside the TV viewing room. Cause trust me if you don't you won't make it far with this one. Also NO I DO NOT BELIEVE people in general talked this way. Some of the filthy slang by the way probably wasn't heard until the 1900's. Maybe the makers just like to play with people who knows? Got into Justified before this one and I recommend that one. Deadwood is not for the faint of heart. Or a weak mind either. As to recommending to a friend goes I'll say it depends on the friend despite they only give us one or the other choice....So it'll be no.Read full review...

Superior Acting, So, So ending

I purchased this because I enjoyed Timothy Olyphant's work in other series and films. The ensemble cast was outstanding. The individual episodes were usually very well paced and well acted. The moral ambiguity demonstrated by many of the characters is sometimes over-played but was generally we demonstrated. As entertainment Deadwood is a good series. The key to such stories is having a credible bad guy and Deadwood has that; and it's not the guy you think it is when the series begins. The only thing I would have liked more was a more definitive resolution to the conflict. Taken as a whole I enjoyed the series but I wanted more bang for my final buck.Read full review...

One of the best drama shows ever

I've watched this series twice and had to own it on blu ray. It is one of the best shows I have ever seen....ever! The dialogue is absolutely astounding, when there is action it is gruesome and intense, and the actors play their roles excellently. This is a must own series period!Read full review...

Well worth the investment for hours of enjoyment

I bought this series because a freind had told me how good it was. Halfway through the second season and I'm not disappointed. The writing is excellent and crude. Sex and violence is not overly done but as to be expected in a western mining town. The acting is top notch and the characters, some real, are compelling. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys their politics set in the post Civil War with prostitutes, gunfights and a struggle for power among the residents of this rogue and historical mining town. The blu-ray transfer is excellent.Read full review...

"No law at all in Deadwood." Simply one of the best pieces of TV ever made.

If you did not catch it on HBO this is one of the only ways to see it as it was meant to be seen, not cut and edited to hell for a TV audience. It's a dark and gritty look at how things really went down. This is not your John Wayne family cowboy and Indians fodder.
If strong language offends you DO NOT BUY THIS.
For me one of the best pieces or television entertainment I have ever seen.
