As others have noted, this diverter is a very tight fit & very hard to turn

Bought this to replace my old tub/shower diverter. Perfect match, but fortunately I read others' comments about how tight this unit is to install. Based on others' recommendations, I first lubricated with vegetable oil then tapped it into place to seat it. While doing so, I had plenty of concern that, should something go wrong, it may never come out, but I persevered.
Also as warned, at first, this diverter is extremely tight to turn - to the point that it seems certain to break. After forcing it the first time, then turning it back & forth maybe a dozen times so far, it is looser, but still so tight, it seems like you must be turning it the wrong direction. Way too tight . I broke ended up breaking this stem but used the seal part on my old stem and it works fine

When I put the stem in it got stuck in the valve and wouldn't turn . I broke it getting it out . I used the seals and put them on my old stem and it works fine .
