This is the most cutting-edge reciever i've ever seen!

The Denon AVR-4306 offers the best combination of cutting-edge features and superb sound quality of any receiver that i've ever seen and tested.

One if it's only downsides is that it's rather expensive and intimidating complexity may put off home-theater newbies. There is also no built-in decoding for next-gen HD-DVD and Blu-ray audio formats and no HD Radio.

If I had a bone to pick with Denon's hugely popular A/V receiver lineup, it would be the lack of upper-midrange models. So the $1,999 Denon AVR-4306's mission was clear: fill the price and performance gap that existed between the highly acclaimed AVR-3806 ($1,299) and the decidedly high-end AVR-4806 ($3,500) receivers. Visually, the 4306 is a near clone of the 3806, but the connectivity quotient bumps the number of HDMI inputs from two to three, adds upscaling to 480p/720p/1080i, supports connectivity to USB MP3 players and iPods, and tosses in an Ethernet port for streaming digital audio from your PC or from the Internet.

Simply put, the Denon AVR-4306 packs in just about every audio and video feature you could possibly want--I actually award it a 10 in Features--and it sounds even better than the 3806. It easily wins my vote hands down, but if it's a bit too rich for your blood, you may want to hold on until Denon's forthcoming AVR-2807, which offers many--but not nearly all--of the 4306's key features at a more wallet-friendly $1,099 price. If, on the other hand, the AVR-4306 falls within your price range, I couldn't make a stronger recommendation.

Denon makes audiophile quality receivers

Denon AVR 4306 is a very nice receiver. I purchased this used for $280 that's an awesome deal. This lists $1999 new. Unless I wanted the most up to date receiver this has everything I need. 130 watts x 7, 3 HDMI, front USB, AV, and iPod docks. Great for home theater and music. Very powerful! Build quality excellent. This is a 40 lb monster. A remote is a must because programming and graphic eq is all onscreen. Set up is timely as I preferred manually eq'd sound although it has the Audessey eq feature. Remote can be difficult to learn with its many different settings and zone options. I have no use for multi zone and I lost audio one day when I hit this button by accident. I do like the manual onscreen eq. It let's you set the sound and volume level to each speaker independently. This receiver has a very basic looking black exterior that disguises what's inside. Nothing flashy, basic and black. I like that. I was a Pioneer guy but Denon wins approval. This is my first one.Read full review...

Great Amp

Great sound quality, many good features, however rather difficult to operate. I'm pretty "gadget savvy" and this thing was quite the challenge to figure out. Still working on a few things that I know it will do but haven't figured out EVEN with the instructions.
I did a lot of research and review reading before selecting this particular Amp. I still think I made the right choice and absolutely love the sound! Would buy again.

Outstanding product

This Receiver has the right balance of everything for me. 130 watts of solid Denon power drives my system nicely. My front channels are a 15 and large horn made by Electrovoice. I use a JBL 2-10" and a horn for my Center channel and the rest are Electrovoice 12" 2 ways from a theatre. It sounds fabulous. I also use the ethernet connection which allows me play music from my computer. Even the turntable preamps are nice and quiet with warmth and are very dynamic. I can't say enough about thus unit, top quality. Highly recommended.Read full review...

Denon 4306 7.1 Receiver

Awesome power with HDMI switching. Just upgraded from the AVR-3805 and this thing is the bomb. Buy one before they go away because the new technology is built cheaper and doesn't have the sound of these older receivers.Read full review...
