Difficult Changeout of Ignition Module
Boaters take note: If you need to change out a bad ignition module, the factory instructions recommend removing the entire distributor to "facilitate". This is not practical for a boater to do when far offshore with storm approaching. It can be done without removing the the distributor, but keep spare nuts and washers for the tiny ones that you will likely drop into the bilge during changeover. Also, the rotor is screwed down with two small screws which are easy to drop...keep spares. And the wad of silicon where the wires enter the distributor will need to be removed in order to wiggle in the new wires. The distributor does work well, as does the coil. However, my new unit arrived with a defective ignition module that had to be replaced by the manufacturer. Unexpected down time.Read full review
