Nostalgic Experience

Satisifaction from a purchases is I imagine everyone desires and I can happily say that I'm very satisfied. Purchasing this product has made me want to get more box and manuals with the game. The box makes a great little display on my shelf to look at, the DKC boxart has always been the best. The manual was fun to read through, Rare Ware had some good writers working on it. Receiving the box was pretty nostalgic, felt like buying a SNES game minus the minor scuff on the box. Donkey Kong Country is probably the best SNES game and I've already beaten it. Only 64% but DKC is hard to 101%. Forgot how good the game looked.Read full review...

For its time a fun game

This was a great time for its time and had great graphics, but compared to modern games the graphics are not nearly as good. Modern machines that play this game like the Retron 5, and older SNES machines will show you how fun the game play is though. The game is one you have to add to your collection if you had it growing up, and it brought back memories playing it just like when I played Super Mario Brothers on NES. .
Wiki
Donkey Kong Country is a 1994 platforming video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was first released in November 1994, and under the name Super Donkey Kong (スーパードンキーコング Sūpā Donkī Kongu?) in Japan. The game was later re-released for the Game Boy Color (2000), Game Boy Advance (2003), Wii Virtual Console (2007), and Wii U Virtual Console (2014).

The game is set on "Donkey Kong Island" and centres around Donkey Kong and his nephew Diddy Kong, who must recover their stolen hoard of bananas from King K. Rool and the Kremlings. Development of the game first began shortly after Rare's Tim and Chris Stamper ran experiments with a Silicon Graphics workstation, rendering realistic 3D sprites. Nintendo became interested in Rare's work and soon acquired 49% of the company which culminated in the production of a new title using Alias and SGI technology for the SNES console. The Stamper brothers expressed an interest to create a standalone Donkey Kong game, and assembled a team of 12 to work on the game over an 18-month development cycle.

Donkey Kong Country is the first Donkey Kong game that was not produced or directed by Shigeru Miyamoto, the character's original creator. It was directed by Tim Stamper instead, although Miyamoto was still involved with the project. Following an intense marketing campaign, Donkey Kong Country received critical acclaim and more than nine million copies were sold worldwide, making it the second-best-selling SNES game.

The Big Ape's Debut!!!

Pros
+ DK's first adventure.
+ Fun platformer action with some things thrown in like using animals for transportation Swiss Family Robinson style.
+ Big boss battles & a variety of different jungle levels.
+ 3D rendered graphics

Cons
- Repetitive gameplay as far as playing as DK & Diddy goes.
- Banana collecting not as fun as coin collecting in Mario Bros.
- No multiplayer element during the adventure

Comments
This is the game that inspired the Kong trilogy. The gameplay was a bit repetitive & lackluster but the characters make you want to play through. He's no Mario but DK throws in enough mini-games & has enough action to keep you playing all the way through.

Verdict
Must have game for any Nintendo or platformer fan. Fun for the kids as well.

DONKEY KONG YAY X's 3

These games are a pact full of awesomness. Why shouldn't it? WHEN IT HAS THE MOST FUN CARTOON APES EVER. The levels are challenging in all three yet, easy at the same time. Some parts you need patience and to have your eye open to get all of the secrets ,and coins. I haven't even found all the DK huge coins yet. BUT! The coins you mostly have to worry about is in DK 2 with Diddy and Dixxie. You need to collect the yellow or gold colored coins with 2 or 3??? Bananas on them. You need to pay to save.. and to fly.. So they are very important!!!! DK 3 has a point to the silver coins. Collect them and you can play games and among other things. I forgot the importance of the coins in DK 1. I really don't think there are not except for the huge DK coins.
Anywho...

This game definetly bought back memories and I enjoy it still and hope you will too.

Great game for all ages!

Highly addictive. This game was my favorite growing up and essential for any SNES game collection. Valued around $20, don't pay anymore for a used cartridge!

Donkey Kong Country

Donkey Kong Country is one of the best games for the Super Nintendo. Essentially, DKC is a very simple platform game in which you collect bananas, extra lives, and special tokens that let you earn lives in bonus rounds. The game also has many secret areas where you can earn extra lives and bananas. Donkey Kong Country allows you to play as Donkey Kong, and Diddy Kong. Donkey Kong is slow and powerful while Diddy Kong is quick but slightly weaker.

Donkey Kong Country plays like any other great platform game; you make your way through various areas beating levels, and then beat the boss to advance to the next area. In order to kill most enemies you can either jump on them or roll through them. Donkey Kong can kill some enemies by jumping on them while Diddy can only do so by rolling through them. Each level is full of bananas and extra lives to collect. There are also several bonuses and hidden areas that you can access. Another thing that makes Donkey Kong Country so fun is blasting your way through the levels via barrels. There are barrels in each level that shoot you all over the place. On top of that DKC even has a save feature, unlike other long platform games released around the same time.

Donkey Kong Country also features two different two player modes: a tag team co-op mode and a competitive mode, both of which are rather fun. All of the levels are well made and are very fun; the large variety ensures that the game never gets old.

Although Donkey Kong Country is a great game, it is a little short and a bit too easy, but it is a great classic game that every Super Nintendo owner should have.

Pros:
- Great gameplay
- 3D graphics
- Tons of secrets
- Save feature

Cons:
- Can be beaten very quickly
