An Eagles WOW! Factor

I've been a huge fan of The Eagles since the 1970s ... this is a superb concert which certainly shows these guys had really matured as musicians after a 14-year hiatus. The opening acoustic set and, in particular, the opener "Hotel California" is a pure delight and thoroughly engaging. If you're "standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona ..." then get moving and make this DVD part of your Eaglemania collection!Read full review...

Excellent concert but defective disc

Great concert with excellent sound and picture quality for a DVD. However, there was a manufacturing defect on the disc right out of the brand new box, which made it impossible to play two of the songs ("I can't tell you why" and "New York Minute"). Very disappointing since these songs are two of my favorite Eagles songs.Read full review...

Wondering why there are multiple versions of this DVD?

For those unfamiliar with the content of this title, The Eagles – Hell Freezes Over DVD is a film that highlights music the band performed live for a studio audience back in April 1994 in celebration of their reunion. ---------- In 1999, Image Entertainment released the film in two different packages (UPC 014381547924 and UPC 014381552928) for marketing purposes. UPC 014381547924 had a DTS label prominently highlighted along the top of the cover. However, the actual discs in both packages were identical and contained soundtracks remastered in DTS 5.1 and 2-channel PCM stereo sound. These two releases were discontinued when in 2005, Geffen / Universal re-released the film (UPC 602498806326) and added a Dolby Digital 5.1 track along with the original DTS 5.1 and PCM Stereo tracks. ---------- Holding the record as one of the best all-time selling music DVDs, many audiophiles consider the DTS track to be reference quality and an excellent choice for testing a surround system. Even if your audio setup does not have a DTS decoder, you can still listen in 2-channel PCM stereo. ---------- The video for the DVDs is presented in a full-frame format. This is to be expected as this production was originally recorded for presentation on television. There is no widescreen version. ---------- The tracklist is as follows: Hotel California, Tequila Sunrise, Help Me Through the Night, The Heart of the Matter, Love Will Keep Us Alive, Learn to be Still, Pretty Maids All in a Row, The Girl From Yesterday, Wasted Time, I Can't Tell You Why, New York Minute, The Last Resort, Take it Easy, Life in the Fast Lane, In the City, Get Over It, Desperado. The last track, Seven Bridges Road, is a bonus track and is presented in DTS audio only.Read full review...

A MUST HAVE for any Eagles fan young or old

Pity the Eagles have put out only 2 official concerts on DVD (their old stuff and not so old stuff for that matter, is fantastic). Anyway, of the two concerts you can buy in stores this is the one to have! As other reviewers have said, this is a reference for DTS sound and if you close your eyes you hear Felder and Walsh standing next to you as they rip through their guitar solos (just like the old days). "Life in the Fast Lane" is just fantastic.

Pros: This DVD has Don Felder playing (worth it just for his playing on Hotel California). Great work on "I Can't Tell You Why", "Tequila Sunrise" and "Take It Easy".

Cons: Not enough rock tracks - 'One of These Nights', which they played at the actual concerts was omitted. They should have included all tracks.

Best Eagles dvd ever done

This is the best Eagles video ever produced. It includes Don Felder on guitar which later productions did not. Felder initially composed much of the title song for "Hotel California" which is the Eagles icon tune. Apparently, there was a falling out among the band and Felder was fired. Sadly, this was in direct contradiction to Don Henley's theme in "Heart of the Matter." There was no forgiveness and future concerts suffered as a result. Still, "Hell Freezes Over" is a masterful work of the greatest American rock band of all-time. I did record a video off the Bravo channel. in 1994. But the commercially produced dvd is far better and includes more songs and interviews. Any Eagles fan should try to acquire a copy. Highly recommended while doing exercise or needing a lift from the day's routine. --Jim Wheeler, Tucson, ArizonaRead full review...

Highest Quality

If you don't already know the story, an interviewer asked when the Eagles would get together for a reeunion tour. The answer given was, "When Hell freezes over."
Hence, the name of the re-union tour and this recording.

The Eagles were iconic before Joe Walsh joined them and his contribution is purely positive.

This disc is a best quality documentation of the Hell Freezes Over re-union tour.

The best Eagles album, in my opinion

This is my favorite Eagles album, very entertaining, and shows the bands musical talents. It shows each individual member's abilities in the best light. They go through each person, one at a time, and play a song to show off their talents. They play a few all together and even play some of the songs individuals recorded while they were apart. And they play all of our favorite songs plus a few new ones.Read full review...

Great DVD

Great music. Contains all their hits plus a few newer ones. Watching the video was better than being at the concert. Only wish 7 Bridges Road would have also been live video footage.

A must for the Eagles fan

The DVD version of this recording is good. The music is great. DTS soundtrack is not as good as the one offer in LaserDisc format. However, the 2CH PCM track rocks.

Be careful when buying this disc. I got mine from trading circuit (circuit city) and appears to be an import from Asia. While the disc play, just a bad taste of buying gray market stuff from a large US company thinking it is the real thing. There is no mention of this in the auction that it is not US made. Their local stores sells the real US made one. The back cover and disc artwork is different when compare with a US version.Read full review...
