Who can resist EVITA?

I must admit, back in 1995, I was not happy to hear Madonna landed the role of Eva Peron for the musical film. I kept saying to myself, "What is she going to do? Sing the whole show in one octave?"<br>
I had won tickets to one of the premiers, which happened to be taking place in my hometown, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The crowd booed when Madonna's name appeared on the opening curtain call. I had to see the movie...EVITA is my favorite Musical.

As usual when it comes to Madonna, her acting is horrible. If you want to call it acting. Reports mention the 'extensive' vocal training she went through. Yeah...'cause she cannot sing. Madonna is a dancer.

Madonna played the roll okay...but her mannerisms of Eva Peron are so over exaggerated. We all know how perfect Madonna has to be.

Just after the movie was released, Madonna bought the 'Rights' to the musical, Evita; making it impossible for any theatre, band, even youth theatre, to perform 'Evita.' Madonna was delusional believing she could take 'EVITA' on the road. The 5 year copyright rights expired, finally, and now...anyone may perform Evita.

I must give a hands up to Madonna for even trying. In no way could she be compared to the 'original recording of Evita, with Julie Covington. Even later on when it finally hit Broadway...who could forget the most famous Evita performance ever? Miss Patti LuPone.

As this was a 'Modern' rendition of the musical, I have to give thumbs up to the musical score. Antonio Banderas has noticeable mention and vocal skills. Surprised me at the time.

This is definitely a movie or soundtrack to play and just listen as you go about your day. Good Musical Score. Don't get me wrong, it's a good soundtrack.

EVITA!

The CD played great, I really enjoyed the songs from EVITA, in my opinion, they are powerful and the movie represented what I knew of the Peron Era and the woman, Evita.

Music and lyrics ! Excellent cast !

I am waiting for my soundtrack, which I am going to send to a friend .

I have the movie version of "Evita" (dvd), which I would heartily recommend to anyone ! I have seen the movie at least 10 times more or less ! The Webber and Rice music and lyrics are a work of genius. Some of the songs are so beautiful, they move me to tears .

Madonna ...for all the negative feedback she gets, vis-a-vis her acting talent, ...is wonderful in this movie !...not to mention Antonio Banderas and Jonathon Pryce !

The director (Alan Parker ) ( "The Wall" ) is no slouch either.

Evita Original Soundtrack - Madonna

I loved the musical.. so now I can enjoy it in the car too! There is a wonderful mix of beautiful ballads and faster music with experimental rhythms and chords. Madonna is at her best, though the music is atypical of her other many styles. You should watch the video of the musical before investing in the sound recording.. though I paid less for my sound recording than the cost of a movie rental.. so it's economical either way. However, watching the video will give you more understanding as to what is going on in the sound track. It is musically interesting but not for everyone, but those who like it.. love it!Read full review...

Evita: The complete motion picture soundtrack (CD 1996)

The music was great. I am not a Madonna Fan, but she was really wonderful. Only three singers can do Don't Cry for Me Argentina. Sarah Brightman, Elaine Paige and Madonna. TGhe othe surprise for me was how talented Antonio Banderas was. Without him, the movie would not have had the same impact. They were perfect for the roles and the voices were perfect. Evita CD

I owned the movie and the CD. I think Madonna did a superb job in her singing, acting including Antonio Banderas who can sing, dance, and act. Banderas is a multi talented man gifted and an absolute delight to watch. I owned other movies that he was in. This CD won't disappoint & I loved it.
