2008's Game of the Year Updated and on Steroids

The Fallout franchise goes back to the old text based 3rd person action game days. It really took off in popularity when Bethesda took over the project and introduced Fallout 3 as a 1st person shooter with great improvements to richly textured, open-world playing map that allowed you to go and do whatever you wanted and not have to strictly follow a scripted game.
You had a choice of character types to build from a good-guy melee fighter to a bad-girl sniper. There were various factions you could ally with or fight against and a post-atomic war wasteland full of mutated creatures to fight. Whereas Fallout 3 was set in Washington DC, Fallout 4 is set in the Boston area. The graphics are even better, with textures and scenery that are amazing. The city scape is a maze of crumbled buildings with winding streets that are densely packed with a new challenge around every corner. There are new factions added to the old and a new story line to investigate from Vault 111 where you awaken to find your child has been taken and it's up to you to venture out and find him in a destroyed and dangerous world. But, before you do, there is another feature to the game.
You can also use workshops to build structures, furnishings, defenses, water and food resources to create safe settlements for people to inhabit and earn money for you. You can craft better versions of the guns, melee weapons, and armor that you find. You can craft useful chemicals and medicine to heal yourself or companions who join you in taming the wasteland.
Beside the basic, main quest, you will constantly find side-quests to assist other groups along the way and be sent on missions where you will find specialty "legendary" items that benefit you in your future battles.
There is a huge following to the game with a presence on social media sites including full walkthough gameplay videos on Youtube.
The game is available for PC, XBox One, and Playstation 4. The PC version requires a high-end fast gaming PC that can be more expensive than the game consoles but at the top end can outperform them. It would also require a large amount of memory and an expensive video card, but you can enter "console commands" via keyboard to interact with the game the way the developers do in creating special items or unlocking items that would normally be out of your current level of difficulty. The gameplay on the consoles is very good with graphics set to less than extremely high settings.
The game is a mix of shooter and role-playing games. It offers a little of both worlds in visually stunning and entertaining way.
It is a hugely popular game for a reason, it is pure fun and well worth the money.

Collector’s item for the avid Fallout fan

Great collector’s item for avid gamers. It’s not a actual working device (you need a phone and app) but we knew that. Not all phones will fit the pip boy so beware. My kid’s phone was and iPhone SE newer version. So a smaller phone than the newer variety.
This one came used but with all original items intact.

Masterpiece

This is easily the best game that came out in 2015. The world is immense, and chock full of things to do, see, and explore. The gameplay is great, the V.A.T.S system works great and is very fun to use. Melee combat could have more features to it, but you will rarely use belle weapons so it's not a big deal. There is a very complex crafting and building system as well, which is a lot of fun to play around with. The story is great too, as it is full of hundreds of different lines of dialogue, and tons of memorable characters. There are three multiple endings, depending on which of the three major factions you side with. You can walk away from the main story any time you wish though. Parents should be warned, this isn't a game for young children, i would say 13+ normally and 14+ if you want to play the story. The main reason is there are a lot of moral questioning decisions you will have to make, and someone who hasn't developed their moral compass will choose bad things. Overall a spectacular game and my favorite in a long time: Rating, 10/10, Masterpiece. pros: Great Gameplay, memorable characters, dialogue, free roam world, crafting system, Great story. cons: occasional bugs (fps drop, stuck in a wall for a few seconds, nothing major.)Read full review...

A Game with a lot of good but some bad as well.

As a massive fan of the fallout franchise this was an easy purchase, granted with the fallout 76 Fiasco, the Nuka Cola Dark Rum Debacle, the Canvas Bag Catastrophe, The Leather Jacket Let-Down, my loyalty to Bethseda has taken a significant hit in recent times.
That being said I will judge Fallout 4 on it's merits and determents.
First the good parts of the game, the graphics are amazing, the controls are smooth, the soundtrack excellent. the lore is detailed and locations are well made, the cut scenes are well animated, the audio is crisp and clear. The NPCs for the vast majority are all excellent. I love the weapon and armor crafting system. The house building system is okay; perhaps it could have been made better, not sure. The World, Choices, and Exploration are vast improvements over Fallout 3.

That does not mean it does not have downsides, like the fact you can no longer get crippled in game, a feature since the first Fallout, oddly enough you can get crippled temporarily. but within seconds your limbs are completely fine. I also rather strongly dislike the dialogue options, for a game that is all about free choice the dialogue in fallout 4 compared to Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas is incredibly limiting. granted this is probably to do with the fact the protagonist actually has a voice now instead of being silent like in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, the weapon design is also rather odd, but I strongly suspect this was so cosplayers could make mock weapons and be allowed to carry them in events like Game Con, Vid Con, Comic Con, E3, etc.
The biggest issues; the lack of level cap, getting rid of skill points, and the removal of the Karma system; first the lack of a level cap means a patient player can unlock every single perk in a single playthrough. getting rid of skills points means a significant decrease in the customability of your character; want to make a super stealthy ninja? you could in Fallout 3 and New Vegas but not anymore! then the removal of the Karma system; in terms of RolePlay this pretty much killed it dead; in Fallout 3 and New Vegas if you were a cutthroat pillaging raiding sum beach Good Characters would either not talk with you, hate you and let you know it or actively try to kill you. so a big step down here.

A Note
Fallout 4 started development right after Fallout 3 came out. I strongly believe they should have waited till Fallout New Vegas hit the market, learned the vital lessons Fallout New Vegas is teaching, then made a game that blew both Fallout 3 and New Vegas out of the water. For example The Factions system in New Vegas was a massive hit with players, depending on who you sided with changed the ending of the game drastically, even not doing certain quests changed the ending! that's astoundingly impressive and is a major reason why Fallout New Vegas is considered the best Fallout game for good reason. in Fallout 4 the ending is the exact same no matter what. how you play doesn't affect it at all.

In conclusion?
This game is ****ing great, I can't stress that enough, but is held back (in my opinion) by simplified mechanics and a story and player character that restricts player choice and customization. But for sheer fun and value, this game is worth your time.

Fallout 4 - Pretty much same old same old. SLIGHTLY more features than New Vegas, but otherwise no real differences.

Other than some minor changes in features, like setting up supply caravans between your established settlements and directing a very limited number of NPCs to assist, the gameplay is almost identical. Different location, with a new main character back-story, but even the music is the same as in Fallout 3. I'm a huge fan of the Fallout series and this is certainly an improvement over New Vegas, but if it weren't for the new more-powerful Xbox One, I think even the graphics would even be the same. If you're not chomping at the bit, I'd recommend waiting for a huge ($20 or more) price drop.Read full review...

Pretty good game

Got this after playing Fallout New Vegas on Xbox Game Pass. Enjoying it so far, but it seems easier than New Vegas. Like NV was harder to level up or something. Might also be that NV is older so not as smooth, fast, and harder to not get killed. I like that you build settlements, but there are too many build options so it gets tedious if you want to build something bigger or have to correct a screw up. Read full review...

Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is an awesome, time consuming shooter RPG set in an end of the world apocalypse. If you like playing a game that's main focus is exploration and scavenging materials to survive you will like fallout 4. It's a Bethesda game so of course it has plenty of bugs, but those bugs don't take away from how much fun can be had playing this game.

Positives:
+ A big map to explore
+ Cool weapon customization
+ Armor customization
+ Pc version has tons of mods
+ build settlements
+ Unique factions that you can join
+ Best graphics for a Bethesda game so far (sunlight effect is amazing)
+ interact with lots of unique npcs
+ Lots of scavenging
+ Awesome guns like the “Fatman mini nuke launcher”
+ Customize your character’s appearance and name

Cons:
-Bugs (expected with a big sandbox open world game)
- Story doesn’t offer a lot of drastic choices (no nuking entire cities for example like in fallout 3)

Score= 88 out of 100

Fallout 4

great game. The conversations in the game are pretty good. Feels near real. Characters have alot of feel and emotion to them. Lots of extras like creating your own settlements, homes, "weapons and armor - somewhat" The only thing I don't like is the GamePlay it's self... Not much better than Fallout 3... They should take a note from Frostbite and make the movements more like Battlefield. luckily there's mods, even for X-box One. Small things really help as far as mods like, unlimited fallowers or immersion / realism mods. Still a great idea,... Technically Advanced 50sRead full review...

Great game, great seller

The game is very good. I can see why people who are way into the fallout franchise aren't into it, but it's good. I'm enjoying it, although me and my brother couldn't figure out why I was stuck somewhere that he breezed though without thinking about... anyways, very pretty, the base customization is really cool (I think it's way more fun than Hearthfire was, although some nicer looking prefab buildings would be appreciated.) If you can grab it for under $30, I'd definitely go for it. I can't wait to get into the weapon customization.
**spoilers for the first like 5min of plot**
My biggest real complaint is that the storyline isn't really that compelling... I mean, maybe it's because I don't have kids, but searching the wasteland for your kid who you got to see in the beginning for 30 seconds (and you only saw him if you wandered in the wrong direction) doesn't really draw me. But again, that may just be me.

TL;DR Good game, a little more mediocre for a fallout game. They may be taking it in a different direction or something, who knows.

Great game, single player, RPG easy play through.

Fallout 4 is one of the best games to play today. It is a game a player can immerse themselves in with a great storyline and the ability to not only have to survive also to help others survive. The graphics are great as well as the gameplay system. If you are one who prefers to play alone (not online), then this is the game for you.Read full review...

Great game but watch the show also on TV

I had this game once in the past and did not understand it, but since I saw the new show fall out, I decided to give it another try having a little better understanding of what to do in the game and I find it very intriguing. There is a lot to it and to get used to so it’s going to take a while, but so far, I think it’s many hours of fun. Read full review...
