Fellowes 3227901 Powershred 79Ci Cross-Cut Shredder - Black/Dark Silver

Good build quality, nice features, runs a little slow

I've killed two paper shredders via overfeeding paper jams so this seemed like the logical replacement for the last Fellows shredder that met an untimely death. I'd really need to run the shredder for a year or two to tell you if it's impossible to jam, but so far I've got to say I've not done it. Offhand, I'd say it achieves "jam-proof" performance by FEEDING SLOWLY. It's noticeably slower than my last Fellows of similar size. It would be nice if it would be faster, but it's not horrible. The unit comes with a container of light-weight oil (good) and trash bags (why?). The wheels on the unit are a nice addition. You might think that a high-sitting motor would make this unit top-heavy and prone to tipping over, but it's well-balanced and pushes around fine. The bin has a clear plastic viewing portal running vertically so you get a good idea how full the bin is getting versus older models that let you know things are full via the shredder backing up. The shred quality is what I'd expect out of a unit at this price point. It'll take out credit cards and CDs as well and it does a good job at it.Read full review

Excellent shredder

I've had other shredders in the past, but this particular shredder is the best product out there.
I highly recommend this for home or office use. It never jams, it's easy to empty, and it's very portable.
In this day and age we all need to be so careful with our sensitive documents with personal information, so I constantly shred all kinds of letters and statements that come in the daily mail.
This shredder gives me a much needed peace of mind, and I really love using it. Simple fast, clean and reliable.

Good Quality Shredder

I wanted to step up and buy a shredder that could process more than a few pages at a time without jamming. This shredder was suppose to be jam proof so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Shredder has a sensor that will not allow to much to be shredded at one time. So the jam proof is it simply won't turn on if you put to much in it. I like that and then I don't, I expect shredder will last a long time with that featureRead full review

Quality Shredder with Excellent Performance

The Fellowes 79C1 is an excellent shredder. I have used it to shred thousands of documents over a period of one week while self quaranteeing at home and cleaning up old files. Fed the machine continuously for 45 minutes with as many as 15 pages at a time of 8 1/2 x 11" paper. It took that long for the over heat light to pause the shredder. 15 minutes later it restarted. Incurred only one jam from the binder of a check register book but the system freed with the reverse switch. The collection basket fills rapidly but is easy to remove and empty. Shredded bits are approximately 1/4 x 1 1/4". The shredder is attractive and quiet to use.Read full review

The Fellowes Jam Proof Heavy Duty Paper and Credit Card Shredder works wonderfully and speedily to dispose of all the personal paperwork that is sent to me. Highly recommended heavy duty shredder

I just received my new 79CI.
The 79CI came heavily protected in 3 boxes.
As reviewed before, the castors were a b---- to install. I oiled the metal inserts and
thought all I had to do was push down. Wrong! I figured out that I had to reach in the empty drawer compartment with one hand at the caster site and grasp the castor in the palm of my other hand and squeeze extremely hard with palm and fingers. One castor was easy and one took numerous tries and strength. Just a thought, you might be able to squeeze he retaining ring on the castor shaft with a pliers to the make the task easier. Bottom line - where there is a will there is a way.
I tested multiple pages (18) and shredded without stopping. As long as you stack the paper together and not wad it all up, the shredder works great!Read full review

Shredder

I've had decent experiences with other Fellows shredders, but this one's the best yet. The shreds are cross cut..., there's no way anyone could reassemble all the tiny little pieces so I'm pretty confident any sensitive documents fed into this baby's gonna do the trick for everyone worrying about their docs. Kevin,the owner, contacted me asking if I was happy with my purchase......absolutely YES !
